We have just come off of a fascinating 30 day summit here at HQ. It was busy, it was exhausting and it was all worth it. However, it was not all just about work. We had plenty of time to meet up with our friends and spend some time reflecting.
One of the things which was discussed a lot during the summit was ways for us to improve our SEO. We had heard from a number of different people about how SEO had changed and improved in recent years. One of the highlights of the summit for me was the opportunity to talk to a number of different people in the industry and ask them questions about SEO.
In this post I am going to look at some of the questions we got asked and answer some of them.
Question 1:
What do you think of Google’s push towards local searches
My answer is simple. I think it is a good thing.
1) Google’s algorithms are smarter than ever
2) The SEO industry is always changing
3) The algorithms are getting better at picking up on local searches
4) Local searches are a lot more common these days
5) Local searches tend to result in a sale
6) Local searches tend to result in larger conversions
7) Local searches tend to result in less searches overall
8) Local searches tend to result in more sales
9) With all of this in mind, it makes sense for Google to push for more local searches
Question 2
What changes have you noticed in search since the last election?
There was a lot said during the summit about the changes in search. In particular, the changes to Google’s Hummingbird algorithm.
Hummingbird was rolled out in February 2013. It was the most significant change to the Google’s algorithm since their previous major change, the Panda update. The Hummingbird update is said by Google to aim to improve the quality of search results.
The update is widely believed by Google to have targeted payment for search. This basically means that Google is aiming to show search results which are more relevant to the user and which are more likely to result in a positive customer experience.
Question 3:
What changes have you noticed in SEO since 2010?
In 2010 Googleintroduced their bold new algorithm, Panda.
Panda was initially aimed at improving the quality of search results. It identified pages which had a lot of duplicate content, short content and pages which were not well written.
The update was a massive success and resulted in a major shift in SEO. People who had owned websites before the update could see important rankings drop. This then led to a massive influx of competition.
SEO became a lot more sophisticated. The number of SEO companies who in turn hire SEO specialists increased massively.
Question 4:
What strategies do you think will be most effective in 2016?
I think focusing heavily on local searches will be a big focus for SEOs in 2016.
A lot of things will change this year. Google has been making big announcements about the future of local searches. It is expected this year that Google will roll out their version of Yelp’s local business listings.
The new local listings system will be designed to list local businesses based on extremely strong local SEO. They plan to rank businesses based on reviews and within specific communities.
In addition to this, it is thought that Google will soon start to include local searches as part of the Google local pack. This basically will mean that local searches will rank above business listings.
Question 5:
Do you have any recommendations for SEO beginners?
There are lots of great articles out there with recommendations on what to focus on to start learning SEO.
Are you fed up of seeing the same boring pictures and videos of your website and wishing that there was more you could do?
Maybe you are feeling helpless about your website because you have never really been able to do anything to it.
Well, there is some good news.
You don’t have to stay stuck there.
You can do something about it.
In fact, I am going to show you what you can do with Sitehero, a Chrome extension which helps you to quickly create amazing videos and images of your website.
We’re going to look at how you can use Sitehero to make your summit memorable.
What is a summit?
A summit is a meeting of group of people to discuss something. It can have a number of purposes. For example, it could be a conference or a workshop. It can be a gathering of people to discuss the future or to solve some problems.
Regardless of the purpose, summits tend to be pretty serious business. They are normally held on a large scale and involve a lot of people. They are attended by people from a lot of different industries and backgrounds.
They are a special occasion and so you want to make the most of it. You want to ensure that it is organized well and that the attendees feel welcomed.
What kinds of things do summits involve?
A summit often has a theme. It can be anything from the importance of a particular industry or society to advances in technology.
Summits are also about finding solutions to problems. They are held to discuss the issues which surround the problem and to try and come up with solutions.
They are great opportunities for networking. Meeting new customers, partners or potential collaborators.
Of course, the summit is also about celebrating. The achievements of the attendees and the success of the event. Whether it is a dinner or a celebration party, the summit is an opportunity to let your hair down and relax.
How do you organize a summit?
When planning the summit, you need to make sure that you plan it in the right way.
You need to think carefully about what you would like to achieve. You also need to think about who the target audience is.
You need to decide who is going to be in the summit and what kind of people they are. For example, if you are holding a conference, who do you want to attend? The people in your industry? The people who run businesses in your industry?
Once you have done all of this, you can start to draw up a rough plan.
How do you make your summit memorable?
In order to make your summit memorable, you need to think of different ways that you can make it stand out.
First of all, you need to decide what kind of videos you are going to create.
For example, you can make short promotional videos showcasing your conference or short videos to showcase your achievements.
Videos allow you to communicate a lot of information in a short amount of time. They are a great way to attract the attention of your audience.
A video which is aimed at the wrong audience is not going to get you the results that you are hoping for. For example, if you want to attract the attention of potential customers, your video needs to be aimed at them.
You also need to think about what types of images you are going to create.
For example, you can create images of your achievements. Or you can create images of your attendees.
Make sure that you use images which match the theme of your summit.
For example, if you are holding a conference on the future of technology, then images of technology would be appropriate.
Finally, you need to make sure that you plan your promotions.
You need to plan how you are going to promote the summit.
For example, a promo video is a great way to promote the summit. A promo video can be used to share information about the summit, such as where and when it is.
A promo video can also be used to promote the sponsors of the summit. Sponsors are businesses which support the summit.
Videos and images are great ways of promoting the summit.
However, they are only effective if you share them.
