Following Mojang's acquisition by Microsoft, Minecraft Java Edition has been running as is. Bedrock Edition came along to integrate with the Microsoft account system, but Java has been operating on its own Mojang account island until now. Java Edition will soon require the use of a Microsoft account to play however, you'll still get an exclusive cape for your problems.
You'll have to transfer your Java or Mojang account to the Microsoft account system in the early part of 2021. Mojang claims this is to introduce two-factor authentication in order to improve security. However, it will also permit enhanced parental controls, chat blocking, invitation blocking, and account integration with Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons.
Mojang does not plan to change Minecraft mods or PvP. Java and Bedrock will continue to be completely distinct games. Although you can continue to use your Java username, you might require changing your username if you sign up with a Microsoft account. You can merge your Minecraft sign-ins if already have a Microsoft account.
Mojang has announced the cape, which was once the most exclusive Java Edition item: to ease the transition. Participating in the migration will give you a free cape. While it won't have the Minecon exclusive patterns however, it will let everyone feel a bit royal.
Although there is no reason to expect anything to change, players still have concerns. For Minecraft-servers.Biz , the more restrictive terms of service offered by Microsoft might lead to bans, which could result in certain players being banned from accessing Minecraft.
