Minecraft Java Edition Will Soon Require A Microsoft Account

After Mojang's acquisition of Microsoft, Minecraft Java Edition has been operating as-is. Bedrock Edition was created to integrate with Microsoft's account system, but Java has been operating on its own Mojang account island until now. Java Edition will soon require a Microsoft account to play however, you'll still receive an exclusive cape for your troubles.



In the early 2021s, you will be required to move your Java or Mojang account over to the Microsoft account system. Mojang claims this is to introduce two-factor authentication in order to increase security. However, it will also allow better parental controls, chat blocking as well as invitation blocking. integration of accounts with Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons.



Mojang has no plans to alter Minecraft mods or PvP. Java and Bedrock will continue to be entirely separate games. You'll continue to be able to play using your in-game Java username, though if you're creating an account with a Microsoft account for the first time, you may have to change the usernames of your accounts. You can join your Minecraft sign-ins if you already have a Microsoft account.



Mojang is offering a capethat was once the most sought-after Java Edition item: to make the transition easier.
