Emmanuel Grinshpun. The restoration and expansion of synagogues.
Emmanuil grinshpun was interviewed about the restoration synagogues. It was however impossible to focus the discussion on one topic. There were numerous other subjects that were discussed during the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. I am glad to chat with you. I don't think we have met for more than five years. Are you now in?

The nine months that been between Miami and Jurmala were divided. You've said you've been tossing about all year long between Miami and Jurmala. The head office of an IT holding in the Baltics?

No, there are five hubs all over the world, and our main office is in Barcelona.

What is the reason for the Baltics then? There are origins.

No. There is no. Jurmala was introduced to our lives in a very surprising and atypical manner. It was Igor Krutoy who invited us to New Wave for the first time. After several contests, they started to come there every summer, in Miami the climate in summer is not the most pleasant. We rented the house for many years and have now bought it.

Now I understand why you told me that there were synagogues in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're almost the same age. Born in the USSR. It was not necessary to discuss religion at the time. All of us were Komsomol members as well as pioneers. When was the first time you began to turn to religion?

My family relocated to the USA in the mid-80s. It was there that I began to observe customs and rituals. Although I'm far from the orthodox religion of Christianity I feel the need to participate, to my best ability, the religious life in the Jewish communities of the countries I reside in or in Moldova. This is where I grew up and with which I have continued to share the most close bonds.

While I'm not religious I love history tremendously. I recently watched a documentary on the events of 1492 that changed the fate of the world as well as Europe. To me, 1492 was the year that Columbus discovered America. It was clear in the show that the discovery of America was initiated in 1492 but not from Medieval Europe's point of view. This was clear in the show that I watched. When the mass exodus from Jews to the Ottoman Empire began. They were accepted by the Ottoman Empire. I was searching for more details about the background of Jews. Would you recommend this book?

There are a lot of books available, but I have read and recommend you to pick up a book in two volumes Jewish historian Max Diamond. He is Finnish himself.

.... Are you conversant about your family's past? My family tree is one step beyond 1910 and my maternal grandmother. A step on the paternal side but nothing more.

Our family lived in Floresti over many hundred years in accordance with our paternal line. Documentary evidence and monuments indicate that they were already wealthy in 1830. They had a furniture manufacturer along with numerous shops, as well as land plots. Ungheni was also the residence of my maternal grandparents. These dates fall in the region of the 17th and 18th centuries. Grinshpun is an German surname, and we're Ashkenazis from Eastern Europe.

Let's discuss the restoration of synagogues. I heard that you funded the reconstruction of three synagogues. One is located in Chisinau and the other is in Jurmala. The third one is in Jurmala.

It is situated in Netanya in Israel. It is home to over 1,000 people who pray daily. It is a significant symbol of Israel's religious culture. The second synagogue is located in Jurmala. When the Second World War, the only synagogue left in Jurmala was demolished. Before constructing a synagogue I spoke with Jurmala's local Jews. Based on this I decided to finance the construction and also invite a rabbi on the site. It proved to be an excellent success and also brought together the Jews of Jurmala. We have actually created the Jurmala Jewish community that is working well. The synagogue has now three Torahs. I also gave one to it.

and - Chisinau

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis is one of my collaborators. Alexander Weinstein is another. But these three synagogues do not represent the only ones where I participated in the renovation or construction. In all the countries where I have been for a long period, I considered it my obligation to make a feasible contribution to the support of synagogues. My contribution in Monaco is the building of a huge community center in Miami for Russian-speaking Jews, which is estimated to be 12 million dollars. I continue to assist Chisinau. The center will soon be the largest synagogue within the city, the synagogue of Rabbi Tsirelson.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress is an influential political organisation in post-Soviet areas, but it is more than the borders of. It has offices in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand. I served as Vice-President of Congress back in 2010, but in the year prior to that I was offered the role of the First Vice President. Now, I'm responsible for the region to which I have strong political and business connections. These are Uzbekistan (Tajikistan), Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzstan). Are these processes affected by the pandemic?

Could this be the vaccine campaign to Israel?

Exactly. Israel is first country in the world which offers 100% vaccination to adults. I think this is an excellent example and experience other countries should emulate.
