How To Edit Minecraft Server Files

The web-based FTP client allows you to manage your Minecraft server files with ease from your panel. To access your Minecraft server files using the web client, navigate to FTP File Access and log in using your panel password. Once authenticated YOURBESTBET will be taken to the home directory of your server.

Navigating Server Files

Navigating through server files is similar to what you do on your desktop. In the center is the directory structure, we can navigate to, select and edit our files from this location. To view the contents of the folder, click on it. To edit a file, we click Edit, and to download, we click the actual name of the file.

There are options for managing the files you've selected. While you have the selected items selected, you can assign specific actions to them, such as:

Move - Move selected files to another directory on your server. Delete - Permanently delete selected files.

Copy - Create a copy of the files you've selected

Rename - Rename selected files.

Download Select files can be downloaded to an archive format.

Zip - Archive selected files and save them to the server.

Unzip - Extract the contents from an archive and save it to the directory that you are currently in.

Edit - Edit the respective file using a built-in text editor.

Create a New Folder and Files

You can create new folders and files directly from the panel using the New Dir New File, New File or Upload option on the left side menu.

New Dir - Create a brand new folder (directory).

New File Create new plain text files.

Upload - Upload a group of files or archive.

You can only upload single files using the Upload option. You can't upload entire folders. Uploading a whole folder will require you to first archive it and then unzip it.

Limitations

While the web based FTP client is easy and quick for simple server edits and uploads but it does have limitations. The panels web page acts as an intermediary for file exchange by allowing you to upload new files as well as make changes to existing server files. This means that you are able to only upload a certain amount of files in a single session. This limit is set at 50mb. Any file commit or upload greater than this limit must be done with an external FTP client like Filezilla. Third-party clients such as Filezilla do not have a limit on file size since they connect directly to your server's files instead of the web-based FTP client.
