Emmanuel Grinshpun. The revival of synagogues as well as the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
Emmanuil grinshpun spoke about the preservation and restoration of synagogues. It was difficult to keep a single subject during the interview. So there are more subjects to discuss in the interview after all.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. I appreciate the opportunity to have a chat with you. We haven't seen each since five years. Are you now based in?

The last nine months were divided between Miami (Miami) and Jurmala (Jurmala). While the areas were previously more diverse, the impacts of the epidemic have had a huge impact on lifestyle. This isn't saying it's only to the negative.

You have always had several types of business. What are you doing now?

Diversification seems to be going anywhere. The major areas of growth are in the field of IT technology and real estate as well as food production.

Our IT-holding team is first and foremost occupied with the reform of tax systems across a variety of nations. We have designed and continue to design products that facilitate the transfer of many business processes related to taxation online. This type of segment is called B2G (Business to Government).

What is the situation in the area in which the holding is located? The ancestors of the USSR

They are in existence. We have agreements in Western, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. We currently operate in 14 countries.

Please briefly explain the purpose and essence of the product.

Our product permits economic agents to submit reports to tax authorities online while the fiscal data manager is able to see each transaction. Tax accounting as well as tax calculation can be performed simultaneously. It is therefore possible to anticipate that small and medium-sized business will not require accounting in the future. Other than its analytical purpose tax payment and the sending of reports can be completed with one "click".

Interesting topic. The future is already here. You have ever considered working in Moldova. After all, Moldova is your native country...

We are ready to introduce the product in Moldova. The Moldovan economy will only gain from this process of automation. In any case, it is an irreversible process. Now, when there is clarity from the authorities and it's evident who takes the decision, we will return to the negotiations concerning our product.

You said that you had been tossing between Miami (and Jurmala) all year. The Baltics is home to the head office of an IT company.

Five hubs are located around the world, with our head office in Barcelona.

And why then the Baltics? Do you have roots in the Baltics?

No. There is no. Jurmala was introduced to our lives in a very unusual and unorthodox manner. Igor Krutoy invited them to the New Wave. This was their first trip to the New Wave. After several competitions, they began to come back each summer. Miami has a very hot summer. We rented a property for several years, and so we've bought it.

Эммануил Гриншпун Now I see the reason why you mentioned that the synagogues were in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're almost the same age. Born in the USSR. No need to talk about religion then. All of us were Komsomol members at the time , and were pioneers. What was your first experience with religion?

In the mid-80s my family and I moved to the USA. It was here that I was introduced to the customs. Even now, I am far from the strict orthodox faith, I just feel an inner need to help as much as my abilities, the religious life of the Jewish community in the nations where I live , or in Moldova, where I come from and to which I have the closest connections.

Although I'm not religious, I still love the history of my country. Эммануил Гриншпун Recently, I watched a show on the events of 1492 that changed the course of the world as well as Europe. 1492 was the year that Columbus discovered America. The show I was watching clearly stated that the discovery America in 1492 wasn't nearly as significant as Spanish monarchs' expulsion of Jews from Spain. When the mass exodus from Jews to the Ottoman Empire began. They were accepted by the Ottoman Empire. Here I wanted to read something about the story of the Jews as a group. Would you recommend this book?

There are numerous books available on the market, but I've personally read all of them and recommend Max Diamond's two-volume Jewish history. He himself is Finnish.

What's your "personal" story ? My family tree is only one step further than 1910 and my maternal grandmother. I'm only one step ahead on the paternal side however, there's not much more.

On the paternal line, our family lived in the Floresti region for a number of hundred years. There are numerous monuments and evidence that show they were wealthy up to 1830. Ungheni was home to my ancestral ancestors. This is referring to dates from the region from the 17th-18th century. Grinshpun can be described as an surname that has German roots. This is why we are Ashkenazis from Eastern Europe.

Let's now discuss the restoration of the synagogues. I have been told that you helped fund the restoration of three synagogues. One is located in Chisinau. Jurmala is the other.

It is situated in Netanya in Israel. Netanya is a large community center where 1,000 people a day pray. It is an important item in the spiritual life of Israel. The second synagogue of Jurmala. The Second World War saw the destruction of the sole synagogue in Jurmala. Prior to taking the decision to build a new synagogue, I talked extensively with local Jews and that led to the fact that I decided to fund the construction of the synagogue and invite Rabbis to the site. It was a tremendously successful project that unites all the Jews of Jurmala. Эммануил Гриншпун The project actually rebuilt the Jewish community and it is still functioning very well. Three Torahs are now displayed in the synagogue, one of which I presented to the synagogue.

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis (left) and Alexander Weinstein (right) have joined me here. The synagogues mentioned above aren't the only synagogues that I helped with the construction or restoration. I don't stop supporting Chisinau and it is going to be the biggest synagogue, the synagogue Rabbi Tsirelson.

Also, did you invite Rabbis from Chisinau to join Jurmala?

Yes. Yes. He must be prepared and willing to incorporate in the daily life of the community given the multitude of things to do. I was delighted that both in Chisinau (and Jurmala) the rabbis were capable of integrating with ease into the life of the community.

You were elected vice-president of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress in 2019. What does this post mean to you, and what do international Jewish organizations influence global trends?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress has been an important political entity in post-Soviet European countries, but it isn't the sole one. It has offices in Eastern Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. In 2010, I served as Vice President and then offered the position of First Vice Presider. In the present, I'm in charge of the region with which I've strong political and business connections. They are Uzbekistan (Tajikistan), Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzstan). Trends in the world show that the barometer of attitudes towards Jews is either still at the same level as previously or has fallen quite a bit, which is extremely disappointing. Additionally, "down" - this refers to countries that are developed such as Belgium, Germany, France and the United States. They're no longer secure for Jews. These are very important, dangerous process for us all.

Is the pandemic affecting these processes in some way?

I don't think so. In the context of the pandemic, I would like to emphasize what a community or nation can accomplish when they are ready to meet any challenge and capable of working effectively and together.

You're referring to the vaccination campaign in Israel.

Exactly. Эммануил Гриншпун Israel is the world's first nation to offer 100 percent vaccination to its entire adult population. I think this is a a worthy example and an experience that other countries must take into account.
