Regular readers of the positioning know that the higher administration is being shifted around here at Massively, meaning that Brianna Royce will now be in charge. While we'll all the time miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the location, the change will likely seem invisible to most readers.
I, for one, would like to welcome our new overlord, for whom I have nothing but respect and admiration. By full coincidence, this week's header picture occurs to be of her favourite animal. Also, I may have despatched plenty of reward baskets of fruit to her house. And I'm positive we are able to all agree that earlier instances of tomfoolery shouldn't be taken into account when she now considers that she has full energy over me.
Transferring on from the welcoming of overlords, it is time for this week's installment of WRUP, that includes the Massively employees explaining our plans for the weekend as well as whether or not a graphical upgrade would bring us again to our first MMOs. Check out our plans past the break, and let us know what you may be up to within the comments!
@Beau_Hindman: I will be settling down on a brand new deed in Wurm On-line, continuing to grind my teeth as I look forward to my new Computer to get right here, and placing my exploration money where my mouth is by lastly downloading IMVU. It's a social MMO that appears very... totally different. I am additionally still gathering my listing of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for protection. Luckily I nonetheless have most of my previous accounts!
If I updated any graphics for a few of my favourite games, that might imply a downgrade for a lot of them. I need graphics which might be more stylized, notably like those in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I'd love to see a "serious" recreation done with a more stylized flair. MINECRAFT SERVERS LIST can keep how it is, however I actually want to see some new avatars. I do know they're coming, however boy, I can't wait!
@nyphur: This weekend I will be entertaining a visiting Swedish good friend from my previous World of Warcraft guild, working arduous on Predestination, and trying to persuade my housemates to play more Guild Wars 2!
My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have really introduced me back a number of times. I started back when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the first big 3-D replace hooked me again in for several months. I've returned periodically to see what the game is like, and the graphics are positively the first thing I search for. EVE Online has the same impact, with large graphical updates pulling people again in to try the sport again.
@nbrianna: I will be dividing my sport time between Guild Wars 2 and Metropolis of Heroes. Double XP is on permanently in CoH, I hear, so it's the perfect time to roll up a brand new character in time for the Positron's Ally event subsequent week.
My first MMO was Ultima Online, and graphical upgrades did convey me back many occasions. That game has had more improved shoppers than any MMO I know... but these upgraded clients often get abandoned by the team before they're completed because many of the veterans simply refuse to modify. Very irritating!
@Eliot_Lefebvre: Metropolis of Heroes, Star Wars: The Outdated Republic, and the ever-fashionable Providing Help to a Cherished One with a Chilly. Sooner or later I'll really play Guild Wars 2 for greater than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I'm fortunate, it will be before the tip of the decade.
I am actually the improper individual to ask about returning to a recreation for a graphical improve as a result of graphics have by no means been what's turned me off from a recreation. I didn't initially leave Final Fantasy XI due to the graphics; I left because the game wasn't actually enjoyable to play. If I see signs that the game I did not like X amount of time ago has gotten higher, I will come running proper back, but placing a new coat of paint on a game I wasn't enjoying doesn't lure me back.
@elixabethclaire: The key World continues to be on pause for me as I dedicate my time to Guild Wars 2. I'd like to hit 80 by the middle of the upcoming week, so I'll be doing loads of PvE and WvW this weekend. I did not imply to, but I've received an entire agenda plotted out for my momentary "fundamental" after she hits 80, not to mention a bit roster of who's in want of leveling after her.
Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Possibly some The key World.
I go back and play all of my old MMOs anyway regardless of updates, although I am very a lot wanting forward to Anarchy On-line's eventual reskin.
@Sypster: My MMO to do listing is a mile wide at this level. I really need to place a cap on Volume III E-book 6 in Lord of the Rings Online, take a look at the brand new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get by means of Egypt in The secret World, and make the massive bucks in Guild Wars 2.
As for graphical upgrades, effectively, if Anarchy On-line ever will get that newfangled redux off the bottom, then you possibly can wager I will be first in line. It would be great to see what a barely more updated AO would seem like.
@JayeRnH: This weekend I'm busy with a family trip, however in any spare time I have, I will log into RIFT and grasp out next to Atrophinius in the Autumn instance just to listen to his hilarious voice-overs. Apart from that, I'll most likely pop into Minecraft with the kids so we are able to work on our tree home.
My first MMO was EverQuest, and I might be more prone to return if the sport really reverted back to the old graphics of avatars and revamped zones.
@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we have acquired some mutual mates coming to stay for the weekend. As a result, my gaming time is probably going to be occupied more by cut up-screen mayhem than MMO funtimes. But if the chance arises, I will be splitting my time between The secret World and Guild Wars 2.
And would I return to EverQuest or Ultima Online if both one acquired a graphical update? That's a superb question. I wish to say yes, however I do not know if I would be telling the truth. I beloved UO and EQ again in the day, but I feel it will take a bit greater than a graphical upgrade to make me a participant again. For every charmingly dated function that I fondly remember, there's a plethora of actually archaic design choices that I do not suppose I'd be in a position to put up with.
@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to sport this weekend!! *nearly faints with pleasure* How much can I cram in? Let's see, the vote won't be in for Choose my Adventure, so The key World will probably be on hold until Monday. (By the way, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I'm going to dive into GW2 extra (I really want to check out an Asura), begin plotting more for my EverQuest II group procuring district in addition to take in just a few dungeons, and spread my wings in Aion to complete up some quests and possibly even get just a few rounds of PvP Arenas in. I also plan on consuming pizza. Mmm.
I might go back in the event that they'd flip the blasted servers again on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)
@mackeypb: I've been enjoying extra Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you recognize what that is), as well as League of Legends. I'm presently carrying as Graves, although I'm pretty positive those reading my column already know that. It feels good to play extra airdash fighters, although; I really feel like a bit of a void has been crammed in my gamer heart.
In order for me to go back to EQ, it would take a better sport, not a graphical update. Actually, graphical updates mean almost nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 have been on prime of the GW2 engine, I might nonetheless be down for taking part in it. High-quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.
@terilynns: I will probably be jumping into Star Trek On-line this weekend to play a number of Foundry missions to talk about on my UGC podcast. I'll even be in Lord of the Rings Online as I discover it very stress-free to farm and craft in that sport. If time permits, I will likely be again in Glitch as properly. And yes, the rumors are true: Some people are twisting my arm to provide Guild Wars 2 a strive. I might pick it up this weekend.
I am really glad this week's query does not apply to me. My first MMO continues to be my favourite, and it is a lovely game -- Star Trek Online!
At the beginning of each weekend, we meet up with the Massively workers members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (In any other case often known as: WRUP!) Be part of us to see what we're as much as in and out of game -- and catch us within the comments to tell us what you are enjoying, too!
