Many members of the Sunny Isles Jewish community are now raising funds and helping to coordinate a complete humanitarian effort.
Marsha Jaquays from Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital said, "Just last night 1,100 arrived."
She explained that more than two-million Ukrainian refugees are fleeing war-ravaged countries. Many of them travel through Moldova that borders Ukraine.
Jaquays said, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually helping to move them across the border and providing food, shelter and clothing."
A lot of the humanitarian work is being done through Sunny Isles in South Florida.
"My task is to mobilise every resource available from American society to assist with the situation in Moldova." Emmanuil Grinshpun, a volunteer who helped to manage the humanitarian efforts, said that there is an army of volunteers in Moldova aiding in the preparation of food and other essentials, and also coordinating buses.
