With Microsoft's billions behind it, Minecraft's momentum isn't slowing. The game has support for VR, and allows players to fine-tune their worlds with Add-Ons. Mega blog has a release date (although that will be in 2019), and it will soon be an official novel. Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft: The Island is the brand new book. It was written by Max Brooks, who also wrote the post-apocalyptic zombie novel World War Z.
"Think cuboid Robinson Crusoe, but madder as a hero trapped in a foreign country with no rules and struggling to survive against overwhelming odds," says Mojang's Marsh Davies. "I've looked at an early draft and it's amazing exactly as we imagined it would be."
It's not known yet when the book will be released or whether it will have any ties to the film, however it does appear that it will be the first of many. Publishing house Del Rey, a science fiction spin-off from Penguin Random House, is overseeing the entire process. The company already commented that it was "fortunate" to have someone with Max's exceptional talents and enthusiasm for the series' debut.
Parents will likely be accountable for more costs however, some will be happy that Minecraft is expanding its reach to education. Minecraft: Education Edition will aid teachers from November 1st. The release of the novel can only further childrens' love of reading.
