Have You Ever Played Minecraft On An M1 Mac?

Have you ever played Minecraft on an M1 Mac

Hello!

Looking at the reviews for the new Macs, especially the MacBook Pro, I'm very interested in switching from my Surface Pro 4 to a Mac. I used to be a Mac user back in the Snow Leopard to Mavericks days, but I switched to Windows some time ago.

I have a variety of programs that I use that users say that work perfectly on M1, but do you know whether Minecraft (Java) is compatible with an M1 Mac? It's one of my most played games and I don't think I could replace my PC with a computer that doesn't run my favorite game. Java is available for ARM, but I've never heard of anyone playing Minecraft on an M! Mac as of yet!

Thanks! (Hopefully Irc101 put this post in the correct place!)

It is highly recommended. The M1 Mac will blow your surface to the ground performance wise. It's only a matter of time until Minecraft is optimized for the M1. As of now you'll be able to use both versions. Bedrock (because M1's natively run apps for iOS and iPadOS currently) as well as Java (translated in real-time running Rosetta 2 which is built in. You won't even notice the differences.

I tried to side load Minecraft to my M1 Mac, but the mouse and keyboard would not work. What method did you use to side load it?

Yes

Information from the video: Java does not have an native M1 app , therefore it has to make use of Rosetta 2 Emulation.

he looked at the Baseline 7-core GPU MacBook Air to the Baseline 8-core GPU MacBook Pro. The MBP produced the world (same seeds on both) at a speed of a second however, the MacBook Air seemed a bit more responsive for some reason (he used the same settings for graphics on both).

The issue with this comparison is that he left Vsync running, so the FPS is capped at 60 FPS. It would be interesting to see how high it can go.

The iOS, Android, and Windows 10 Minecraft versions all are compatible. However, the Pocket Edition Realms server will not allow for the PC and Mac versions to play each one another. In other words, if you have an iOS device, and your friends are all playing on Android, you can still play with them.
