Minecraft is a game that you should play with your friends. Sometimes you will all be working together to make something awesome or else you'll be using mods to recreate Eldenring, and other times you'll browse servers online to see what the internet has to offer. If you are online and playing with strangers there are times when things can become messy, and this appears to be what the latest Minecraft snapshot is trying to address.
Minecraft snapshot 22W24A is out now, and it's building towards 1.19.1 by introducing a few bug fixes and two new features. The primary one is chat reporting which lets you report players who are sending "abusive messages" in the game chat. The blog states that "any reports made during testing are not considered to be valid," but that it is important to recognize that toxic players are a major part of any online game. This is an excellent step.
Chat reporting can be accessed within the social interactions screen and you'll need to report the individual chat messages along with picking the appropriate category for them as well. This is probably to stop the system itself from being abused, as it is not possible to create a report that is generically about an individual player. You have to specify what they have done and the blog mentions that the report will be reviewed by a moderation team. There's no telling yet what constitutes a legitimate and actionable report but it's worth learning about it nonetheless.
In addition, the other big modification is that the amazing Minecraft allay is now able to be duplicated. This is accomplished by providing them with an amethyst-shard. However, duplication comes with the benefit of a 2.5-minute cooling down. This should alleviate any worries about how many allay mobs are in the area. Also, Minecraft servers could only be good news, right?
In more non-official news, we're huge fans of this Mario Kart mod for Minecraft. It adds in the karts we've all played and love, but also some amazing aquatic features, too.
