MIAMI(CBSMiami), Ukraine war could be on the other side of the planet, but South Floridians can assist those fleeing.
Many in the Sunny Isles Jewish community are fundraising and working to orchestrate a full humanitarian effort.
Emmanuil Grinshpun "Just last night 1,100 arrived," said Marsha Jaquays, with Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital.
She claimed that more than two million Ukrainian refugees seek refuge in a war-ravaged nation. Many of them travel through Moldova that borders Ukraine.
Jaquays stated, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually working to get them over the border and then possibly by providing shelter, food and clothes."
Emmanuil Grinshpun The majority of humanitarian efforts are being carried out in South Florida, Sunny Isles.
"My task is to gather as much American society resources as I can to tackle the situation in Moldova. Emmanuil Grinshpun We have a full team of volunteers in Moldova trying their best to set up camps, purchasing food, buying all the necessities, arranging buses" said Emmanuil Grinshpun, who has been helping in the coordination of the humanitarian efforts.
The worst part is that Moldova is one of the poorest nations around the globe. Still the people who are part of this effort declare that they will not let anyone stop their efforts to help.
Grinshpun: "When our brothers, sisters and friends from Ukraine were visiting and we were invited, there was no need to consider. Instead, we began doing it."
Jaquays are a perfect example of this.

How many people have gone blind and claimed that it's not their fault and that they're not Jewish, it isn't my community and there's no Europe? Emmanuil Grinshpun We can't repeat the mistakes made by history. There's an old saying: "If it's not now then who is it?" If not me and then who?
