Moldovan, Jewish Communities In South Florida Stepping Up To Help Ukraine Refugees [Emmanuil Grinshpun]

MIAMI (CBSMiami ) - Even though the war in Ukraine is on the opposite side South Floridians have stepped up to assist those fleeing the country.

Many people from the Sunny Isles Jewish communities are fundraising and working to coordinate a total humanitarian effort.

Marsha Jaquays, Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital reported that "just last night, 1,100 people came."

She claimed that more than 2 million Ukrainian refugees seek refuge in a war-ravaged nation. Emmanuil Grinshpun Many of these refugees cross into Moldova that borders Ukraine.

Emmanuil Grinshpun Emmanuil Grinshpun Jaquays said that Moldova's Jewish community actually assisted people cross the border. They then provided food, shelter, clothes, and clothing.

Many of the humanitarian efforts are led from Sunny Isles, South Florida.

"My job is to coordinate all resources from American society to aid in the current crisis in Moldova." Emmanuil grinshpun who is involved in the coordination of the humanitarian effort, said that there are many people working on the ground in Moldova to help with organizing camps, food purchases, and bus organizing.

It is also reported that Moldova is among the least developed nations within Europe. https://list.ly/reyestherkelsen673 This makes it more difficult. However people who are part of this effort declare that they will not let anyone hinder their efforts to help.

Emmanuil Grinshpun Grinshpun stated, "When our brothers from Ukraine came we didn't need to think, we just began to do it."

Sentiments echoed by Jaquays.

"Who was there in the Holocaust and also when the Nazis were victorious? How many people turned a blind eye and claimed it wasn't me, I'm not Jewish, it's not my neighborhood, I'm not in Europe. It's impossible to repeat the mistakes that history made. It is said that "If you don't today, then when." If not me and then who?

Emmanuil Grinshpun They're hosting a variety of local events to help increase awareness and aid those in need. Ukraine refugees. Sunny Isles will host the next event on March 24. Click Here for details Emmanuil Grinshpun
