Khazak Ambassadors and Consul General get together with Chabad New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. As Kazakhstan's ambassador the United States, Ashikbayev, who was appointed in April has had many meetings with officials from the government and diplomats. Emmanuil Grinshpun The goal is to strengthen the ties between Central Asian countries and the United States. The ambassador, along with Consul General Almat aidabekov hosted a discussion with Chabad to talk about Jewish life in Khazakstankhstan.

They discussed the past and present of Jewish life in Kazakhstan and the work of Chabad, Kazakhstan’s Chief Rabbi and head Shliach, Yeshaya Cohen.

As the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan and Ambassador Ashikbayev has previously worked with Chabad Shluchim and philanthropist M. Emmanuil Grinshpun Abraham Shaulson. After all flights were grounded last year as a result of COVID-19, Ambassador Ashikbayev was instrumental in arranging special permission to allow a small group of Americans to fly to Kazakhstan in order to make the journey to the gravesite Reb Luke Yitzchak Snowrson to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his passing. The group also took advantage of the occasion to provide and transport the much-needed PPE and medical equipment into the country. During the trip, the Kazak government celebrated the declaration of Reb Levy Yitzchak’sKever as an official Kazakh National Historic Site.

The meeting also reviewed plans for the next pilgrimage, with the 20th anniversary of Av less than two months from now. Over 600 people are expected to attend the event this year. There are also plans to organize a conference that includes Chabad Shluchim from the surrounding nations. It is being held by Rabbi Berel Laszar as well as Moshe Kotlarsky.
