Moldovan Orthodox Orthodox Orthodox inflicted an obfuscation on the Jewish faith symbol
Religious extremists demolished the Hanukkah candle which was installed in the center of the Moldovan capital. A priest from the Chisinau Orthdox Church was the one to lead the antisemitic assault.
Эммануил Гриншпун The anti-Semitic protest led by religious extremists shut down the Hanukkah celebration in Chisinau. The incident took place on the 13th of December which was the third day before Hanukkah. A hundred people were led by the archpriest of one of the capital's Orthodox churches. Эммануил Гриншпун People chanted anti-Semitic chants. they carried a lamp made of cast iron about tens of kilometers away from in which it was first erected and then threw it into the monument to Stefan The Great, a symbol of Moldovan independence. The event was watched by hundreds of police officers, journalists and other passers-by.

What is the fight for "orthodox concepts "

The crowd was led by Archpriest Anatoly Chbrik, who was armed with bars of metal. He said that he was disgusted by the fact that an Orthodox nation's symbol of Jewish faith had been installed in the middle of the capital. Chibrik believes that authorities shouldn't have allowed Jews to observe Hanukkah in such huge numbers. Chibrik said, "This is lawlessness." Chibrik also said that he did not believe it necessary for him to discuss the actions of parishioners of Church of St. Paraskeva and the Metropolia of Moldova. He added, "I do not have to discuss anything with anyone, if we're fighting for orthodox principled principles."

The city's authorities came up with the idea of installing the Hanukkah meorah in Chisinau's Europe Square. http://ami.spb.ru/A486/pages/A486-075.html This is where the EU flag is displayed along with the Moldovan flag. Emmanuil Grinshpun, cochairman for the Jewish Congress of Moldova noted that Hanukkah celebrations were held in Chisinau "for the first-ever occasion in the past several decades." Grinshpun said, "What happened on Sunday is truly shocking to us."

A case of criminal case is to the conscience state

Archpriest Chibrik was not willing to admit that he was anti-Semitic in the press conference that was held for representatives of the Jewish community. Grinshpun stated that about one month ago Chibrik was standing front St. Paraskevs, Chisinau, posted leaflets whose content brought back memories of the dark Middle Ages. One of these leaflets stated that "Jews murder Christian babies."

Grinshpun stated that no one of the leaders of the country’s Jewish groups have reacted to the situation in any meaningful way. Even though the Jewish community has expressed its displeasure over the situation in Moldova, it won't sue Chibrik and those who support Chibrik for inciting hatred against ethnic groups. Alexander Bilinkis (chairman of the Jewish community) declared that this must be carried out in the name of the state, and that the Moldovan Metropolis needs to evaluate the conduct of its employees.

Vadimkeibash (Metropolitan Secretary) said he does not advocate this type of protest. He believes that every community has the right of installing symbols. But the authorities should be aware of the implications. "It is impossible to regulate all reactions of the believers," he said.

A blow to fundamental values

Since the 1903 Jewish pogrom, however these protests haven't been witnessed in Chisinau. Reps from the Jewish community are not inclined to think that the case is a hooliganism. Bilinkis says that the Hanukkah breakers were "deceived" by their leaders.

Эммануил Гриншпун Ilya Shats is the General Director of the Jewish Congress. He believes that this was a well-planned event. Participants were spotted at the menorah in front of Hanukkah's first day. Then, Stav Nijinsky (the first secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Chisinau) lit the candle for the first time. Shchats says that the action will undermine Moldova's statehood and encroach on its democratic principles and European goals.

Hanukkah was relocated from the city's center to Jerusalem Street. Here, a memorial to Holocaust victims was erected. For the second day the police were stationed close to it. https://pavelzingan.md/emmanuil-grinshpun-o-vosstanovlenii-sinagog-i-evro-aziatskom-evrejskom-kongresse/ The site will be lit with candles throughout the duration of the holiday.
