His stay in the hospital was among the most painful experiences of his life. He was unable to move and fell into depression and despair. The dreams of becoming an army officer did not materialize and he lost his sense of his self. Rami's suffering allowed him to find the passion and drive to live his life and dream up new ones. Rami set out to be more powerful and successful than prior to the injuries. Rami decided to try out extreme sports. He is now a snowboarder, kitesurfing as well as hiking up Mount Kilimanjaro. He often feels like his unwounded past is pushing him ahead, even as he works to improve.
Rami is a regular volunteer and donor to many charitable organizations. He also loves helping young soldiers who were wounded during combat. Rami was the leader of an army group that helped injured soldiers on a 2016 trip to Nepal. In 2018, he was promoted to major in the Israeli army's paratrooper and fire brigades.
