Emmanuel Grinshpun. The restoration of synagogues as well as the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
Emmanuil Grinshpun and her co-hosts discussed the issue of restoring synagogues during their interview. The discussion was not sufficiently concentrated. There were a variety of topics that were that were discussed in the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. Эммануил Гриншпун It was an honor to get to know you. We haven't been able to see each other for at least five years. Where are you currently living?

In the last nine months, Miami and Jurmala divide the difference. The geographical boundaries were much larger in the past, but the pandemic impacted the lives of people significantly. I cannot say that this is a good thing for anyone.

There have always been multiple business lines. Like right now?

Diversification seems to be moving forward. Эммануил Гриншпун If we look at the most important areas, then real estate development, IT, and food production are the three main areas.

ALIMCOM knows the food industry and real estate is much more easily understood. IT, however, is completely new to me. There are many applications for IT technology. What are you the best at?

Our IT-holdings are concerned mostly with the reforms to tax systems in many countries. We have created and are developing a range of solutions that assist in transfer a number of tax-related processes on the internet as well as in "real time". This is referred to as B2G (Business-to-Government).

What are the locations in which the holding is located? Эммануил Гриншпун Former countries of the USSR?

They are there. We do however have more contracts in Western Europe and Latin America. Currently we are present in 14 nations.

Эммануил Гриншпун Could you briefly describe the basic idea behind this product?

Our software allows tax professionals to electronically submit their tax returns to tax authorities. The fiscal data operator then sees every transaction. Tax accounting and tax calculation are managed simultaneously. In the near future, small and medium-sized companies won't require accounting except for its analysis function. Tax payments and the sending of reports can be done with one "click".

This is an interesting topic. Are you interested in working in Moldova? Moldova is the country you call home at the end of the day.

We are now ready to introduce this product in Moldova. It is our belief that the Moldovan economic system will only gain from the automation. In any case it is an irreversible step. If there is consensus and clarity with the authorities about who will make the final decision, we'll resume the negotiations regarding our product.

You've said you've been tossing around throughout the year between Miami and Jurmala. The Baltics headquarters is an IT holding?

Five hubs are located around the world, with our headquarters located in Barcelona.

Why then the Baltics! There are origins.

No. There is no. Эммануил Гриншпун Jurmala was introduced to our lives through chance and quite prosaically. It was Igor Krutoy who invited us to New Wave for the first time. They began visiting Miami each summer, after they had won several contests. The weather isn't the best in Miami during the summertime. We rented a home for several years, and therefore we have already acquired it.

Now I understand why you said that one synagogue was in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We are almost the exact same age. Born in the USSR. The Soviet Union was not the space to discuss religious beliefs. All of us were pioneers, as well as Komsomol participants. What was the moment when religion became your preference?

My family and I moved to the USA in the mid-80s. It is a fact that's when I first began to respect customs. While I don't adhere to orthodoxy, I feel a deep desire to be a part of the religious life of the Jewish communities that I have in my country of birth or Moldova. I was born in Moldova and have continued friendships with the Jewish communities in Moldova.

Although I don't consider myself religious, I am still a lover of the past. I recently watched a documentary about the events of 1492 that changed the course of the world as well as Europe. 1492 was for me the year Columbus discovered America. However, it was stated explicitly in the program that 1492 was the year when Columbus discovered America. When the mass exodus of Jews to the Ottoman Empire began. They were accepted by the Ottoman Empire. This is where I was looking for more information on the historical background of Jews as a group. Do you think this book is worth recommending?

There are a lot of books available, but I have read and would recommend you to pick up a book in two volumes Jewish historian Max Diamond. He hails from Finland in the midst of all this.

Speaking of "personal" personal history .... Do you know the genealogy of your family? Unfortunately, I do not know much more than my grandmother and 1910. Paternal side: One step beyond but not enough.

Our paternal line was in Floresti for over 100 years. The evidence from monuments and documents indicate that they were already wealthy by the year 1830. They had a furniture manufacturer, many shops, and land plots. Ungheni was the home of my maternal ancestors. This is the area of the 17th-18th century. Grinshpun can be described as a surname with German roots. We are Ashkenazis originating from Eastern Europe.

The issue now is the restoration or synagogues. I was told you provided funding for three synagogues' reconstruction. One is located in Chisinau, one is in Jurmala, and the third?

It is situated in Netanya in Israel. It is a massive community center where a thousand people a day pray. Эммануил Гриншпун It is a significant item in the spiritual life of Israel. The second synagogue is Jurmala. The only synagogue in Jurmala was destroyed at the beginning of the Second World War. Before I decided on building a synagogue in Jurmala, I had previously talked to Jurmala's local Jews. It was an enormous success and brought together all the Jews of Jurmala. We actually re-established the Jewish community. It is now functioning well. Three Torahs are now in the synagogue. I donated one Torah to the synagogue.

and Chisinau

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis, Alexander Weinstein and I are currently partners in this project. However, these synagogues weren't the only ones that I've participated in renovation or construction. I believed it was my duty to contribute to the support for synagogues across the world where I've resided for a very long duration. In Monaco there is a huge center for Russian-speaking Jews has been constructed. My contribution is approximately 12 million dollars. I do not stop helping Chisinau and now it is the biggest synagogue in the town, that of Rabbi Tsirelson.

Did Jurmala and Chisinau get the blessing of a Rabbi?

Yes. It is extremely difficult to find the right Rabbi to serve the needs of the community. Due to the many stakes that are involved, the rabbi has to be diplomatic and non-conflictual capable of integrating organically into the community's life. It's a good thing that both the Jurmala and Chisinau rabbis were able integrate so harmoniously in the community.

You became the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress' first vice-president in 2019. What does the post have to do with YOU? How do international Jewish organizations influence global trends in general?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EJC) is a powerful political organisation in Russia post-Soviet. But it's not the only one. It has offices across Australia, Japan Hong Kong, New Zealand, New Zealand and Eastern Europe. I was Vice President of Congress back in 2010, however, the year before last I was given the position as First Vice President. This time, I'm responsible for the region with which I have historically strong relations with both the political and business worlds These are the "countries", Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan. Regarding the trends across the world and the world at large, the barometer of attitude towards Jews is either at the same level, or, which is very regrettable, has swung down. Additionally, "down" - this is referring to developed nations such as Belgium, Germany, France and even the United States. These countries are no longer safe for Jews. These are extremely serious and troubling processes that impact all of us.

Did the pandemic affect the processes?

This is not what I am claiming to believe. Regarding the pandemic I'd like to emphasize the way a society or a nation could be when they're ready for any challenge and are willing and able to cooperate.

Does this represent the vaccination campaign to Israel?

Exactly. Israel is the only country in the world which provides 100% vaccination of adults. I think this is an excellent example and experience other countries should emulate.
