The FDA has confirmed Avanos Medical’s recall for its Cortrak*2 oral access system. Avanos Medical feeding tube The recall of 629 devices that were distributed from 2016 to 2022 began on the 21st of March.
Cortrak*2 is an instrument that permits doctors to introduce medical feeding tubes into patients stomachs or small bowels.
The system was recalled because of injuries and death reports following nasocentric or Nasogastric tube misplacement, when it is employed to help to insert these tubes. Improperly inserting a tube for nasogastric or nasoenteric tube can result in serious injury or even death.
According to Avanosthe safety announcement the number of deaths was 60 and 23 injuries resulting from this problem. Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 A variety of adverse events were reported, including pneumonia, respiratory failure and pneumothorax.
