New Minecraft Launcher Starts With A Grey Screen

System Restore is your first line of defense. It can bring you back to the point before the problem started as the time machine. You can always reverse it if it isn't working. You can read the tutorial first and then restore to the state you were in before it began. Make it a priority now in case System Restore isn't enabled on C drive in order to make it available in the near future.



If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...



Even if you have already tried the steps I have provided, please repeat them in the order I suggest.



1) Run the Store app troubleshooter at Settings>> Update and Security Troubleshoot.



2) Search for and install game updates in Microsoft Store app > Hub (three dots on top right) > Updates.



3) Reset Minecraft in Windows Settings > Applications > Apps and Features > Minecraft > Advanced Option > Repair or Reset. Restart PC and try again.



If none of these work to work, uninstall Minecraft from Settings, restart your computer, then reinstall MS Store Hub (three dots in the upper right corner of the Store app).



4) The Display driver is so crucial that updating it is often not enough. So let's try everything possible to make sure it's working properly:



You can upgrade the Display driver via the Display adapter's or PC manufacturer's Support downloads page. This will provide the exact model number, HP Serial No. or Dell Service Tag - which is indicated on the sticker on your computer.



You can also check for BIOS/UEFI firmware, newer chipsets as well as network, sound and other drivers by right-clicking in the Start Menu.



If this doesn't give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/... or the Nvidia Update utility here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=e... or the AMD autodect utility here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/P...



Display issues can be solved by rolling back or deinstalling the driver via the Display Device > Driver tab. Then restart your computer to reinstall the driver.



You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Choose.



Then you'll know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers.



Adjust the resolution of the screen until it is what you want and looks best in Settings > Display > System.
