MIAMI (CBSMiami - Despite the fact that the conflict in Ukraine is on the opposite side South Floridians are stepping up to help those fleeing the country.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Many Sunny Isles Jews are helping to raise funds and coordinate a humanitarian effort.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Marsha Jaquays of Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital shared the following "Just last night, 1,100 people were admitted."
She claimed that there are more than two million Ukrainian refugees seeking to escape their war-ravaged homeland. A large portion of them cross into Moldova that borders Ukraine.
Jaquays stated that Moldova's Jewish community was actually helping those who were crossing the border, and then providing food, shelter, clothing and clothes.
Emmanuil Grinshpun The heart of much of the humanitarian effort can be found in South Florida.
"My duty is to bring together all the resources that are available to us in America in order to ease the situation in Moldova." Emmanuil grinshpun who is involved in the coordinating of the humanitarian effort, said that there are several individuals working in Moldova to help organize camps, food purchases, and bus-related organizing.
Even worse is the fact that Moldova is one of the most deprived countries in the world. However, those who take involved in this cause say that they will not stop helping.

Jaquays echo sentiments
"Who was there in the Holocaust and when the Nazis took over? What number of people ignored the fact that it was not me. We can't make the same mistakes as history. There is a saying "If you don't now, when." If I'm not the only one, who else?
