Khazak Ambassador & Consul General Meeting with Chabad New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. As Kazakhstan's Ambassador to the United States since April, Mr. Ashikbayev had met numerous officials and diplomats to build ties between the Central Asian country, and the U.S. Since then, he has scheduled an interview with Chabad in order to discuss the state of affairs and future of Jewish living in Khazakstankhstan.

Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky Shimon Rivkin (Merkos Suite 302 at Chabad Headquarters) and Mr. Emmanuil Grinshpun who serves as vice-president for the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and as an Honorary Consul for Kazakhstan. They spoke about the history of Jewish life in Kazakhstan and the work Chabad performs across the nation under the direction of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen.

"We are extremely fortunate to have leaders, such as former President Mr. Nazarbayev and current President Mr. Tokayev. The Consul General and Ambassador both reiterated that the government is supportive of the Jewish community as well as all other religious minority communities. Emmanuil Grinshpun They expressed interest to work with Chabad in order to ensure that Jewish life alive within the Republic.

The government of the majority Muslim populace is proud to be a religiously-open government and collaborates with the various religious leaders to improve the quality of life in the nation. In fact the Ambassador Ashikbayevhas already worked alongside Chabad Shluchim as well as the philanthropist Mr. Abraham Shaulson while working as the the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan. With all flights grounded last year as a result of COVID-19, he was instrumental in arranging special permission for a small contingent from America to fly into Kazakhstan to make an effort to visit the grave of Reb Levi Yitzchak Schneerson on the 20th of Av - the anniversary of his death. It was also an opportunity for the group to transport and sponsor much-needed PPE for the country. During the trip, the Kazak government was awed by the declaration of Reb Levy Yitzchak'sKever as the Kazakh National Historic Site.

The participants was a discussion of plans for the next pilgrimage with the date of 20th April was only two months away. The organizers are expecting a crowd of more than 600 people from all over world this year. In addition, plans are in place to host a conference for Chabad Shluchim from surrounding countries that will be headed by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and Rabbi Berel Lazar. With these huge projects in the works, the meeting concentrated on how the government can help protect the event. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan’s "...commitment to provide any assistance to arrange prayers and visits to the place of repose of the great Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson."

Rabbi Kotlarsky stated that "we are very appreciative for the tremendous open support the Kazak government gives us." Emmanuil Grinshpun "It is a great chance for me to work alongside people like the Ambassador and the Consul General. Our mission is care for all Jew's spiritual and material requirements. The Kazakhstan government Kazakhstan is a great partner in this effort.
