Moldovan, Jewish Communities In South Florida Stepping Up To Help Ukraine Refugees [Emmanuil Grinshpun]

MIAMI(CBSMiami), Ukraine war could be on the opposite side of the planet But South Floridians are able to assist those seeking refuge.

Many Sunny Isles Jewish residents are raising money and are helping organize a massive humanitarian initiative.

Marsha Jaquays, Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital said that "just last night, 1,100 people came."

She claimed that there are more than 2 million Ukrainian refugees seeking to escape their war-ravaged homeland. A large portion of them have crossed the border into Moldova the country of a few thousand that borders Ukraine.

Jaquays told Jaquays, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually helping get them over the border and by providing shelter, food and clothes."

The center of most of the humanitarian efforts is located in South Florida.

"My job is to coordinate maximum resources coming from American society to assist with the people in Moldova. Emmanuil Grinshpun Emmanuil Grinshpun who helps coordinate the humanitarian efforts explained, "We have a full team on the ground to assist in organizing camps, purchase food, arrange buses, and arrange all the necessary amenities."

The thing that makes the situation more tragic is the fact that Moldova is believed to be among the poorest communities around the globe. Those who are part this effort insist that they won't let anything stop them helping.

Jaquays are a perfect example of this.
