Minecraft Distched Fireflies In The 1.19 Update, So The Real Pet Frogs Of Kids Won't Croak.

Minecraft 1.19 is available today, loading the Wild Update's new biomes, mobs, and technical tweaks. It's the last update of (almost) all the new features that were initially introduced to players at Minecraft Live in 2020 and the third of three major updates.

As always, there are no secrets that are hidden on launch day, Agnes Larsson, Minecraft game director and Ulraf Vaknin, Minecraft's developer assure me. Mojang is committed to user feedback or else why bother with snapshot builds, betas, or release candidates? The developers also discussed some of the changes 1.19 went through after users became involved.

The Wardens who are a danger to the team might have changed the most during the course of development. "That was a place where we were looking for feedback from our technical players as well as our challengers," Vaknin explains. In their March debut photo, the Wardens were already quite scary when I first attempted to play with them. They made a very intense heartbeat when they were angry and roared in my face and destroyed every single chicken I spawned in their path to deter them.

They now have a sonic attack too, a ranged ability emanating from their chests to fight players who managed to escape their long arms and reach. Based on feedback from Minecraft players who enjoy the redstone tech in Minecraft The Skulk, the new Warden-summoning blocks, was also modified.

"It's somewhat technical," Vaknin says, going on to explain that the Skulk sensors stopped registering the first sound detected in the code, but now respond to the first that's closest to it. " premiumebooks.net looked at some of the devices that people tried to create, but they didn't work because of the code's peculiarity. We adjusted it to feel more natural."

Mojang continues to make an impact on feedback. Leading up to the Wild Update, fireflies (originally described as food for frogs in Minecraft Live 2020) have been a topic of contention, so much so that the most recent Q&A video about new Wild Update features was titled "What did the fireflies do in Minecraft 1.19?"

Anna Lundgren, the producer of that video, explained that players had pointed to how fireflies can cause poisoning to Frogs. Larsson and Vaknin explained that it wasn't only players who made the call. "I got reached out to by pet shop owners who told me that this was already an issue due to people not getting educated about this and there's memes about frogs eating fireflies," Vaknin says. "So people are already making this mistake and if Minecraft amplifies this mistake that makes it so much worse."

"We have millions of players," Larsson says. "And that comes with an enormous responsibility. We realized if we release an element like fireflies that are poisonous for frogs and there are frogs eating them, that actually might lead to people killing their real-life frogs."

We have millions of players and that should be a source of immense responsibility.

My gut reaction is to support developers who change their minds on features in development for just about any reason however Larsson's more measured explanation is probably the more sensible one. Minecraft has been more than just a game for years in the present, and is now advertising itself as an educational tool as well. New Minecraft features aren't limited to Bedrock vs Java editions or PC vs Xbox interfaces, Mojang also has to consider its roles as a source of entertainment and education for its large number of young children.

Larsson says that the new bugs were far smaller without fireflies being food for frogs. Mojang has decided to drop the bugs completely for now, sending them back to the grand ideas catalog and focusing on the quality of other features coming up in the pipeline.

Vaknin is thrilled to meet new Allay friends flying around houses and building. Larsson is a player who is truly a friend of mine, is excited about finding new mangrove swamps and building new structures with the mangrove wood set, which is reddish and the mud blocks.

Minecraft 1.19 is available as a brand new version on your Minecraft Launcher. It comes with a long list notes on the patches. Today also happens to be the day when all Minecraft players can access both Java and Bedrock versions of the game regardless of whether they had one or the other.
