Greifing isn’t allowed on the server and is auto perm as we are serious on the matter. Add in the reason to tell player to make ban appeal.
---------------------------------------Duping--------------------------------------------
Most people do not try to dupe as it a shift bug remember this!!!!
If caught duping, do action 1 - Permban (Reason) - Also take print screens of the dupe for evidence support on the ban appeal!!

Edit to add: Use your own good common sense if you encounter a situation that isn't covered by these guidelines. For example, if someone is trying to trick other players into revealing their minecraft account passwords, it's an obvious instaban. If you are still not sure about a situation, contact an experienced and high level staff member.

---------------------------HOW TO BE A GOOD STAFF MEMBER-------------------------------

Overall: A server's lifeblood is its players. No exaggeration. The more players a server has, the more donations and votes it gets, the better it thrives, the longer it will last. A server owner will never spell this out outright to the staff, but smart staff figure it out quickly on their own.

Therefore, since we want our playerbase to stay with us, we want them to be happy here, and the best way to do that is to have staff who are not excessively harsh.

So don't be an asshole about enforcing rules. I'm not saying -don't- enforce them - but do it in such a way that it doesn't seem like you're on a giant power trip. Nothing will make players hate you faster than if they see you power tripping, and they will test you and prod you and do everything they can to express their dislike of you if you do power trip (or are seen as a power tripper,) and it will make your job vastly more difficult. Of course, once you've alienated a few players who then start hating you and testing you, you can always ban them for badmouthing staff or whatever, but it won't make you any friends among the remaining players, who will all also think of you as an asshole even more than ever when you show you can't handle being challenged gracefully. Player exodus can begin at this point as they leave the server with the asshole staff to find a better server.

I've found that it works better overall to handle any player infraction with an attitude that's less "You fucked up, and here is your punishment handed down from above" and more like treating the player as a friend who you need to say something unpleasant to. Even when I catch, say, dupers, I am kind to them during the bust process. It's the difference between "Hey, why'd ya do this?" and "What the fuck is this shit?," and the difference between "Ya know I'm gonna have to ban you for this" and "You're gone." It makes a -giant- difference in player attitude, you get far more player confessions, and also makes ban appeals easier to handle.

Players will stick their necks out for you and go up to bat for you if they think you're an awesome staff member.

Tailoring punishments to fit crimes, and knowing when and where to draw lines. For example, yes, caps abuse is against the server rules - but jumping down a player's throat because they posted a single short statement in all caps makes you look like an uptight dick. I let short all-caps slide if they do it only once. (Same for the occasional sentence in a foreign language - l unintentionally chat misfire all the time, and if I had a dollar for every time I forgot to type /r I'd own a really nice new car. lol And since I know everyone does it, I don't freak about it when other people do, too.) If the player capslocks or does the foreign language thing a couple/few statements in a row, then, yeah, sure, say something, but again, don't be an asshole about it. Again, remember most of the playerbase are kids, and they think like kids do. There are very few hardened career criminals among them, lol. I always strongly prefer to mute/kick/jail/tempban for a first offense (unless that offense is really absurdly against the rules.) Most players will usually learn from short-term punishments and will come back to play again, keeping the server growing and strong. Sometimes certain players want to test you, and the solution in that case is to simply, without arrogance, keep upping the punishment until they get it. Mute -> jail -> short tempban -> they almost always get the picture by this point, but if they don't tempbans of increasing length do incredible things.

Also: overriding/reversing punishments administered by other staff. If you think a punishment is inappropriate, talk to the staff member who issued it about it in private and let them do the unbanning/etc. Don't just unban/etc (the exception to this would be players who are stuck in jail because no time limit was put on their jail sentence.) Otherwise, reversing a punishment issued by another staff walks all over them, and the player base will begin thinking that staff is incompetent/will challenge their decisions/view them as worthy of disrespect.

As staff we are all on the same team. Please work with other staff and not against them. If you see a staff member exhibiting a problem behavior, talk to them in private about it and give it a chance for things to be solved that way before you escalate it or make it public for the server to see.

---------------------------------------Staff commands and tutorials--------------------------
Kick/tempban/ban/mute/jail:
- Ban and tempban can be removed with /unban playername
- Do /baninfo to find out ban history for a given player (note: only information for permabans will show up; at this time, ban info for tempbans won't show up)

How to kick. Remember to always add a reason:
/kick playername reason
Example: /kick Notch Cursing

How to tempban. Remember to always add a reason:
/tempban playername time (can be expressed in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks) reason
Example: /tempban Notch 1 week Admitted to griefing, apologized, 1 week temp ban

How to ban. Again, remember to always add a reason:
/ban playername reason
Example: /ban Notch Doesn't like soup

How to /mute : REMEMBER YOU MUST SPECIFY A TIME, OR THE PLAYER IS MUTED FOREVER. /mute is a toggle, so to unmute a player, do /mute theirname again.
/mute Notch 5 minutes

JAIL works much the same way as /mute. Remember to add a reason. IF YOU DON'T SPECIFY A TIME, THE PLAYER IS JAILED FOREVER, so please be careful with this.
You can check a player's jail history with /jailinfo playername
Be aware that the system automatically bans people who have been jailed too many times.
/jail playername jailname jailtime reason
Example: /jail Notch 1 1 hour LIkes soup more than I do (where 1 is the jail name. All jail names: 1 2 3 4 5 6 )

lost claims and suchlike drama lol, and teleportation:

Players not infrequently forget to do /sethome and can't find their way back. There are a few tricks you can use to help them get home.

1) Tell them to do /back
2) If that doesn't work, do /claimslist playername and teleport to the coordinates listed.

To teleport to players, do /tp playername. You don't need to put the player's whole name; /tp mireni is good enough. A note: it is rather rude to teleport someone to you without warning, especially if that person is a staff member.

To teleport to coordinates, do /tppos. Example: /tppos 234 55 -182 Notice that coords can be either positive or negative.

Players sometimes get stuck falling through the void. You can teleport them to you to rescue them. /tphere still does not work because of the 3 second wait, so do /tp theirname yourname instead.
