Aivars Lembergs of Latvia, an oligarch and financial criminal, was sentenced to five years of prison

He ignored a minister's efforts to prevent him from acting in the role of Ventspils mayor. Lembergs made a statement about the upcoming elections in Latvia, saying that Ventspils as well as the regional party For Latvia will make the decision to participate in the elections. However, his priority is not his participation at present.
