What will it take to make you believe?
Paul sailing for Rome. There is a storm at sea. He is visited by an angel and told all of them would make it.
They all make it and either swim or drift ashore. (which is genuinely a miracle. Some people's only hope is to grab onto pieces of the now breaking ship and hold onto it all the way in. Even as this surge of waves crashes against the boat and breaks it into pieces.
After this they are gathering wood for a fire. In Paul's bundle of wood there is a serpent which when thrown into the fire comes out and bites his hand. At first people declare that he is a convicted murder getting his death sentence. But upon waiting for him to drop dead, he doesn't. They wait a little longer and still nothing happens.
Then, in a sudden change of course, they change their minds. He's actually not a felon at all, he's actually a God!
Well, after all this 'supernatural' action. Them being saved by a shipwreck, and Paul being declared a 'God', does anyone believe?
No. After Paul proclaiming an angelic visitation, his prophecy coming true, everyone living through the storm, is anyone's life impacted?
As far as we can tell, no. I believe the way the account is written something like that would be recorded. But no, not one person is changed by this whole experience.
It's really quite incredible. In fact, this whole journey started when Paul was transferred onto an Alexandrian ship: Acts 27:6 There the commanding officer found an Egyptian ship from Alexandria that was bound for Italy, and he put us on board.
And his journey to Rome also ends on an Alexandrian ship. Acts 28:11 It was three months after the shipwreck that we set sail on another ship that had wintered at the island—an Alexandrian ship with the twin gods as its figurehead.
The funny thing this time is the fact that this new Alexandrian ship has been given an additional detail.
Engraved onto the ship were twin Roman Gods, Castor and Pollux.
People often self determine that if a miracle was performed, they would believe. If something supernaturally happened,
