In my 11 years on Tinder, I've come up with a few tricks and tips for how to approach the dating app. While not all work for everyone—and many will be sure to evoke cringe-worthy responses—there are a few things that I have found to be helpful for my dating habits.
While looking for dates, my best tip is the "hot flash". When you swipe right, it means your match is hot. When your match is hot, you flash as a way of saying "Thanks, and thanks again." Then, the next time you swipe right, your match will flash and that will tell you that they also just swiped right. It's a best practice to be able to grab the attention of a match when a friend of yours does it and then grab it for your friend, which would be your match. So, if you don't want to be annoying, don't do it to your own match. Don't be that person.
Look at something else. When you are swiping and you aren't seeing anything that is interesting, it's not just you. It's the app. Swiping for too long has been a significant problem for people, and it has become too rampant lately. There's not much that you can do about it, unless you turn off the app and start going to bars and clubs like you used to, but for now, put the app aside and look at your phone less. And don't forget to eat!

When someone likes you, you may get scared because you think you have to be able to figure it out so you can make a good impression. As a user, if I like someone, I'm happy to just assume that they're a great person. Sure, now you want to know what they're like. Go to their profile, like it, then find out what they look like by swiping. If they look like a cartoon character, don't sweat it. There's no need to get caught up on their "hunky" life.
Be selective when picking out dates. If you are available, that's wonderful. I would say to take a long look at profile pictures, but if you don't want to be available, just be selective and not message and pursue anyone who looks like they aren't. Don't pursue someone who is single, and don't pursue someone who looks like they are already in
