Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, born on the 7th of December 7 1963 in Edo State, Nigeria, grew up in a family that was a faith-based one, and was surrounded by loving and devoted parents. He is the son of the elder of elder T.E Oyakhilome. Angelina, one of the pioneers at the Assemblies, of God's Church in Benin City, as well as the matriarch of the Oyakhilome clan. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome studied at Edo College before winning a scholarship to study architecture at Bendel State University, known today as Ambrose Ali University, where the student earned a BSc in Architecture and an honorary Doctor of Science award. He also holds an honorary doctorate of divinity from Benson Idahosa University. Ambrose Ali University was the campus where he felt God called him to be an ordained minister to the Lord.

When he was still in university, the Man of God founded what would be one of the biggest churches in the world. He began an informal prayer group called "Youth for Christ" that would eventually become the most well-known organisation of its type on campus. Christ Embassy has strong presences in Pastor Chris’s native Nigeria in addition to South Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. The ministry has two healing schools that are located in South Africa.
