When you think of Minecraft tournaments the first thing that comes to mind is to a building contest or maybe a fun server-wide game with nothing but your honour to be won. MrBeast hosted an Minecraft tournament recently with the prize of $30,000. He invited 1,000 Minecraft players to play on the same server as the Sandbox game, in groups led prominent Minecraft YouTubers. The participants were asked to build an enlightened civilization across the biomes.
Naturally, this led to mass war and the destruction the server's civilization however, it was all part of the plan. After 24 hours of intense building across the server, Mr. Beast forced each group into combat to see whose survival skills were strongest. The prize money was given to the winner that defeated the six others.
The skills of participants so far however, as Mr. Beast made sure that no one had all the advantages. One group was required to make the most of the Badlands the limited resources and harsh conditions and a different group was stranded in middle of the ocean, and constructed an enormous fortress to withstand attacks from all sides.
The most resourceful group spent time digging in and constructing a strong castle complete with all the necessary amenities: thick walls, deadly moat, etc.
The best laid plans may turn out to be disastrous in Minecraft. The only thing that could deter the hordes of players who were encroaching and not just the mobs was the castle walls.
Slimes and other Minecraft enemies have thrown a wrench into battle strategies and brought dreams of glory to a halt in the blaze of destruction.
It's a compelling argument for a Minecraft battle game, and even though there's no indication that Mojang has any plans for such a game, it's possible that a Minecraft strategy game will soon be released.
There's plenty to keep us going until then in The Wild update - including hiding in some cases. It's frightening out in The Wild.
