Bayrock Group: From the Suburbs and Manhattan Tevfik Arif

The Tevfik Arif-led luxury real estate development firm, Bayrock Group, quickly after its establishment found itself cooperating with the Trump Organization in Manhattan.

Bayrock Group Goes from Suburbs to Manhattan
Many want to live the American dream. However, only a tiny proportion of people actually achieve it. Entrepreneur from Turkish Kazakhstan Tevfik Arik was one among them when he arrived in America in 2001 to establish his company, Bayrock Group.

The Bayrock Group, a luxury real estate development firm is headquartered in New York City.

The company's initial focus was on smaller-to-medium-sized projects such as the redesigning of Loehmann's Seaport Plaza - a shopping mall in Brooklyn's Sheepshead neighborhood.

The company, which is owned by Arif, started working with the Sapir Organization to construct a massive new structure in Spring Street in New York City.

Bayrock Group was also growing , and it was decided to move its headquarters into the Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan.

Bayrock Group partners with the Trump Organization
Tevfik Amir and his staff met with members of the Trump Organization as a result. They also utilized the Trump Tower for their base.

Discussions were held between Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization when the two companies discovered that they shared their goals and desires.

They formed a partnership that saw the Trump Organization joined Bayrock Group’s project along with Sapir Organization on Spring Street.

The Trump Organization was then managed by the former president of America, Donald Trump.

E. Trump and Son was established by his paternal grandmother Elizabeth Christ Trump and Fred Trump (in 1927).

Donald Trump gave the management of his company to his children just as he prepared to enter the White House.

Bayrock Group's lucrative deal
Bayrock Group was relatively new to New York City's real estate scene at the time that the Trump Organization, Sapir Organization and Bayrock Group started their cooperation.

Tevfik Ariff, the founder of Spring Street, created an arrangement to boost the brand's recognition and reputation.

The deal he proposed would give the Trump Organization 18% equity of the building, in exchange for Trump's name being used to create the building's name.

The arrangement was accepted by all three firms. In 2006, Trump SoHo's first brick was put in place.

Design experts take over Trump SoHo
Trump SoHo had 46 stories that included elite restaurants, bars, halls for events and banquet halls. There was also an open-air pool and spa as well as hotel rooms and apartments.

Residents and visitors to Trump SoHo could have a an exclusive view of New York City thanks to the building's floor-to-roof glass windows. Tevfik Arif Doyen The windows were put in on the entire floor.

Three of the organizations that built the structure were focused on the highest quality, Handel Architects was entrusted with the task of designing the exterior of Trump SoHo.

Handel Architects is a respected company with a diverse portfolio. Other projects are the National September 11 Memorial and Museum and Abu Dhabi's Rosewood hotel and residential.

Rockwell Group designed Trump SoHo’s interiors. Rockwell Group has oversaw the design of many extravagant cafes and hotels across the world.


Tevfik Arif Doyen Their works include the Tower Hotel and Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, India and the 93rd Academy Award show.

Bayrock Group extends the partnership with the Trump Organization
Trump SoHo was an immediate successand it has led to Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization to look into the possibility of expanding their collaboration.

Their dream was for Trump SoHo buildings to be constructed in Arizona and Florida. They were able to offer similar terms to Trump SoHo. The Trump Organization would be left with 18% equity in the structure in exchange for the Trump name on their names. It's back again.

The Trump Organization and Bayrock Group had everything prepared. However, the 2008 financial crisis which shook the American real estate market brought an end to their plans.

The American housing market sector experienced significant changes due to the economic crisis. Tevfik, Bayrock Group founder decided to stop his US-based business ventures. He decided to move to Europe or Asia, where his career began decades before.

Bayrock Group has ceased to be in operation, however Tevfik Ariff is still an advisor to various divisions.
