Scale Of Cells :)

-The width of a water molecule is ~0.275nm(nm= nanometer is a billionth of a meter)
-The width of a Hemoglobin Is ~5nm(Larger than a water molecule)
-A virus is HIV- HIV has a width of 120nm(One of the larger viruses)
HIV can only replicate in a small fraction of T cells. HIV cannot successfully replicate in most T cells but still causes cell death. ( A lot bigger than a Hemoglobin)
-In T-Cells, you have red blood cells which are the 6-8 mm(micrometers wide)
Each of these red blood cells contains an amount of 280 million hemoglobin molecules.
Cell Theory

Robert Hooke was able to leverage a primitive microscope. And in 1665, he published Micrographia. Robert Hooke named things called cells but he was actually looking at dead tissue. He was looking at the remnants of cells; what he saw was just the cell wall remnants. Antonie van Leeuwenhoek was inspired by Robert Hoookes's work, and he could make better microbes and make better observations like living cells and living unicellular organisms. Then fast-forward a few years, and two men named Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann come into the picture and start laying down the foundation of modern cell theory. They believed that all life is composed of one or more cells. And They had another theory that a Cell is the basic unit of life. A man named Robert Remak came up with an observation that shows that all cells come from other cells.
Microscopy Magnification is a measure of how much larger a microbe (or a set of lenses within a microbe) causes an object to appear. The resolution of a microscope or lens is the smallest distance by which two points can be separated and still be distinguished as separate objects. The smaller this value, the higher the resolving power of the microspoe and the better the clarity and detail of the image. Light micropspoes is a visible light passes through the biologle sample you are looking at and is ent through the lens system, allowthing the user to see a magnified image. Electron micropsopes can be used to examine whole cells and the subcellular structures and compartments within them.
Key Terms
-A cell is the smallest living uit of Life.
-Cell theory is the explanation of the relationship between cells and all living organisms.
-Mircrope is an intrustemnt used to magnify objects too small to be seen with the naked eye.
-Simple light micropoe is a micropy tool that uses visible light and ne lens to magnify an object.
-Compound light microscope is a microscopy tool that uses visible light and multiple lens to magnify an object.
Electron micropoe is a micropsopy tool that uses a beam of electrons to create a magnified image.
Cell discovery and Cell theory
Early 1600s-Robert Hooke discovers dead cells using early
microscope.
Late 1600s-Anton von Leeuwenhoek develops a more powerful
microscope that allows him to see living cells like
bacteria.
Early 1800s-Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann conclude that
all living organisms are made of cells, and that cells can
be produced from other cells.
Mid 1800s-Rudolf Virchow confirms that all cells must come from
pre-existing cells. (There is some evidence that this idea
was stolen from Polish scientist Robert Remak.)
