Do You Want To Put Out The Great Fire Of London In MINECRAFT

It was a catastrophe London had never seen before, beginning with a fire that erupted in an East End bakery on July 1666.



The fire quickly spread and continued to continue to rage for days, devouring swatches of the city and destroying thousands of homes.



Thanks to a variety of maps created for Minecraft, gamers now have a first-person view of The Great Fire of London.

The Museum of London created the Minecraft maps to commemorate 350 years since the onset of the blaze.



Players can explore the burning city through a series of mini games.



The second map, due to be released in the next month will show how the fire started and spread through the city.



Through various mini games players will be able to recreate the Great Fire as their tongues go up in the slick world.



By playing as a journalist from the London Gazette, whose offices were destroyed by flames on the second day of the fire gamers will pick out which household items to save.

The second map, which is scheduled to be released next month will show how the fire began in the bakery of Thomas Farriner (pictured) and spread through the city



Mini games will let players relive the Great Fire. Here we go again can join fire fighters fighting the flames with traditional tools of their trade, including replicas of a 17th Century firetruck (pictured) or buckets made of leather.



They can then walk through various terrains, including caves and forests. To get a bird's-eye view players can fly in the air.



With the Oculus Rift now in the market gamers can experience virtual reality.



Joshua Blair, the museum's digital learning coordinator, explained that the first map in the Great Fire1666 series let us make visitors feel part of London's history and the times of 1666. We were able to recreate the narrow streets and iconic landmarks such St Paul's Cathedral or London Bridge to set the scene for the fire.



He added: 'This second map is where the Great Fire story really unfolds and we hope that players will take pleasure in exploring the most important event in London's history in a fun and entertaining way.'



According to its creators , the mini-games draw attention to historical figures like King Charles II, Thomas Farriner (whose bakery was the cause of the fire) and Samuel Pepys (a famous diarist who documented the fire).



The game is part of the museum's Great Fire 1666 exhibition which will run until April 2017.



The new maps will be available to download on Mac and PC starting 2 September.
