Learn More About the Different Types of Massages You Can Choose From
Origins: Ayurvedic Massage is based on ancient Indian Ayurvedic medicine techniques and manipulation of pressure points. It was developed to heal the body, create harmony between mind and soul, and promote healing. Ayurveda, a Sanskrit word, is the Sanskrit word ayurveda, which means knowledge and vedas, which means wisdom. The literal and spiritual meanings of Ayurvedic Massage are derived from Ayurvedic philosophy, practice and tradition as passed down from ancient India.

Ayurvedic massage techniques rely on the understanding that the life force 'Pran' flows through all living creatures. If you were to look inside yourself (which you can't when you are dead), you would find your life force called 'Rakta'. This force is thought to be connected with the center of earth, called 'Nishtha', the Sun or Moon, located at the very center of earth, and the North Star which is also known'Polaris. We become healthier when this 'Pran’ flows through our bodies. If it doesn't flow properly, we feel sick and our skin begins to age.

Using the same principal as ancient Indian medicine, Ayurvedic massage seeks to strengthen the flow of 'Pran' and to maintain healthy levels of 'Rakta'. It has been proven to be beneficial in managing stress, lowering blood pressure and reducing anxiety. There are many types and styles of massage. Each one targets specific areas such as the neck/shoulders, feet, back or feet. Ayurvedic massage may include the following:

carrier oils. Carrier oils help the body absorb essential oils. Carrier oils can be soybean oil or coconut oil, almond oil (or palm oil), sesame oil, and palm oil. These oils make it possible for the massage therapists easily to get into the patient's hands. You should also be aware that carrier oils can cause allergic reactions and irritation to sensitive skin. Use your sense of judgement to make sure the carrier oil you select suits your needs.

Different types of herbs. Ayurvedic massages use a variety of herbs for their healing properties and medicinal benefits. Kapha is one example of such herbs. This herb is well-known for its ability to soothe and calm the mind and body. Kapha is rich in many chemicals, including saponins. Before beginning massage therapy, Kapha oils can be massaged into the scalp. Kapha is also used as a poultice to treat sunburned skin, wounds, and rashes.

Tulsi - This herb has long been used in Ayurvedic medicine to control mood and relieve stress. Tulsi oils are often added during a massage therapy session to enhance relaxation and ease stress. Tulsi stimulates blood flow and increases heart rate. It is believed that Tulsi can be beneficial in lowering high blood pressure and reducing stress. People who have Tulsi oil massaged on their scalps have reported a significant decrease in stress-related disorders.

The lymphatic systems. Healthy functioning of the lymphatic systems is crucial for many body functions like the immune system, circulatory system, and others. Massage therapists will use massage techniques to stimulate the lymphatic system by applying gentle strokes to the neck, shoulders, or face. To ease stress and pain associated with the lymphatic system, massage oils such as lavender, Chamomile and peppermint are often added. The lymphatic system can be improved by massaging with a mixture of oils. It is responsible for removing waste products from the body.

Deep tissue massage. This type of massage is used to release chronic tension in the muscles and connective tissues of the body. Its purpose is to restore the skin's youthful appearance, increase flexibility and range of movement, and reduce swelling. It uses gentle strokes such as tapping, tapping, squeezing and kneading.
