Mojang's Notch, a smart man in game design and the management of his company's 20,000,000plus Minecraft players is a great choice. The designer has published an online poll on his personal blog to find out the opinions of his cuboid players. feel comfortable with the idea of collecting different types of anonymized data from its users.
Mojang currently tracks only when a player logins to the game. Notch's proposal is to also keep track of "non-private data" like gameplay-session length, your PC's OS type and whether you're playing multiplayer or single mode and whether you're playing via the client or via the web applet. The community would then have access to the data gathered "as usual."
Notch said that the data will be transmitted "naturally" anonymously. "So it won't include any session information or your user name, and it wouldn't transmit any sensitive information that you might not want to divulge." We're amazed that this kind of data isn't being collected in the first place, but we'll admit it. You can vote here for anonymity data collection or against an anonymity if you are part of the Minecraft nation.
