"To Evict Or Not to Evict" & the OJ Simpson Trial
"If the glove doesn't fit, you have to acquit." (Johnnie Cochran- OJ's lawyer)
"If the tenant doesn't submit (payment), you should evict?" (Anxious Landlords)
From a drama perspective, OJ Simpson's (first) trial was great theater. It had a thrilling beginning (who could your investment white Bronco chase on the interstate?) and yes it immediately captured the nation's attention. The story was televised 24-hours a day and reporters energetically followed every lead and generated a huge selection of side stories (the "Dancing Ito's" anyone?). The public was excited, and therefore the trial got past its first week (which developed into the 1st close to 60 weeks). Whew!
The numerous era of the actual trial were equally tedious. The evidence was presented at length and also the jurors were tired. The lawyers knew whoever could boil around the a lot of time of testimony into something mentally palpable for the jury would win. Marcia Clark, the DA, tried to take the large preponderance of evidence against OJ and interest each juror's common sense; unfortunately, this became a lot for that jury to process as OJ's lawyers poked holes in the validity of many of the evidence, creating more confusion. On the other hand, Johnnie Cochran (which has a grand visual presentation), boiled your decision of OJ's guilt or innocence as a result of one statement: "If the glove doesn't fit, you have to acquit." Above the din, the jurors finally had something simple which they could cling to; this easy statement helped them cut from the cacophony in the trial to make the final decision of "Guilty" or "Not Guilty". And on 10/3/95, the Juice was loose.
When tenants do not, there is certainly usually a whole lot of drama. "I'll use a payment coming to you in the future now", "I have a lot of family issues", and "I thought you said you needed it next Tuesday." Countless calls and e-mails are supposed to attract you socially, emotionally, and mentally; it can be tough never to sympathize (or empathize)! This type of interaction (some refer to it as "gaming") has one purpose- to convince you to not evict. hop over to here like the OJ trial with all from the drama and grandstanding, you sometimes require a simple statement to assist guide your decision. Fortunately, there exists one.
This statement, with style points coming courtesy from the late Johnnie Cochran: "If they don't submit (FULL payment), you should evict". Very simple!
