Viruses written and launched on Patch Tuesday to hit unpatched systems are known as "zero-day" attacks. Powerful viruses are valuable -- and potentially lucrative -- tools. But viruses wouldn't be so violently despised if all they did was replicate themselves. In the next section, we will look at how viruses have evolved over the years.
