Minecraft And Screencastify Install

Students will be able to log in to Minecraft: Education Edition with their AISD email address. This information is located in the User Profile menu of the AISD Portal. After logging in to an AISD email account, students will be asked for their student ID number and password in an AISD Portal pop-up window. This will happen no matter which device the student is using.



Below are some links to help install Minecraft: Education Edition on your student device. Scroll down to the device you are using to find specific instructions. Before installing a personal computer at home, children should speak to their parents.

Instructions for Installing on Austin ISD Student Chromebooks



Austin ISD Chromebooks capable of running the Android version Minecraft: Education Edition will need to first access the Minecraft installation page from the Google Play Store. Chromebooks for students will be able to locate the Google Play icon in the Chromebook Shelf at the bottom of the device screen.



Only approved apps from a district are available for installation on the Google Play Store app. minecraft survival servers on the Minecraft Install button on Google Play.

Instructions for Installing On Non-Austin ISD Windows Computers



Click the purple Windows button to download Minecraft Education Edition Windows Desktop Edition. The downloaded file must be located and opened. It should be in a new tab at the bottom of your browser or within the Windows Downloads directory.



The Windows operating system will guide you through the installation process. Choose your language and accept the End-User Licence Agreement. Continue clicking Next until you are asked to click the "Install" button. The installation may take a few minutes before you see a Finish button that will end the installation.



Instructions for Installing on Macintosh Computers



Click the purple MAC button to download Minecraft: Education Edition for Macintosh. You will need to locate the downloaded file and then open it. It should be located in the Downloads folder or a new tab at the bottom.



The Macintosh operating systems will guide you through the installation process. Select your language and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue to click Next until are asked to click the Install button. It is possible that the installation will take a while before you can see the Finish button. This will close the installation.



Instructions to install iPads. iPads



Once an instructor has installed Minecraft Education Edition on an Austin ISD student iPad, students can use Minecraft. The app can be found within the Creator Apps group on the iPad during the school day.



Download Minecraft to your iPad from the iTunes Store. The application is available as a free download. The button below will show you the app on the iTunes store.



Screencastify Screencastify Capture Extension Installation



One effective way to demonstrate learning is to capture live demonstrations of that learning through video. Video screen capture is a great method to show an online activity to students or for teachers to record a digital product using their recorded voice to describe it.



Screencastify is an Austin ISD approved Chrome extension and students and staff members have the option of adding the extension on their own by visiting the Chrome Web Store.



Instructions for students installing Screencastify



Austin ISD students have access to the Austin Independent School District Chrome Web Store from which any of the approved applications can be downloaded. This is the only way to install the Chrome extension or Chrome app on an Austin ISD Chromebook. On the Chromebook, open the Chrome launcher, locate and open the Chrome Web Store app. To access the approved app list, click the Austin Independent School District link. This page will help you find Screencastify and install it.

Capture Your Video



All students are able to create videos up to 5 minutes long once the Screencastify extension has been installed. Before you begin recording, practice your group presentation. The presentation video should not exceed 2 minutes long. This video will show you what it will look like when you capture the video of your life.

Optional: Edit Your Video



You can be as creative as possible in creating your world or making your video. Screencastify allows students to make edits. Your free AISD account comes with a simple video editing tool. Learn more about editing video on Screencastify's help page.
