How To Make A Minecraft Bedrock Server

To run a Minecraft server, you need to download its zip file from Minecraft's official website. It contains both Windows and Ubuntu server files. It can be unzipped using your default file explorer, or you can use WinZip and WinRar software.

Note: As of March 2022, the Bedrock server software is still in its Alpha stage. So, there can be a variety of bugs that are to be resolved before the final release. Run the Minecraft Bedrock server

You don't have the Java server installed before hosting the Minecraft server. So now let's get started. On Ubuntu

Each Linux OS has a "terminal", which allows you to run custom commands. Make sure your system is running Ubuntu 18 or a similar version. To launch the server, run the following command. LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server If the command fails, try replacing the "bedrock_server" part of it with the unzipped folder's name and then run it again. Once the command is successfully executed, you can now jump on the server and begin playing.

Windows

To make a Minecraft Bedrock server on Windows, you need to follow these steps: 1. First, we have to exempt Minecraft form the UWP loopback restriction. It prevents UWP applications (like Minecraft Bedrock), connecting to the local server. CITIZENSNPCS To do this, right-click on the command prompt to open it as an admin or choose the option directly in the sub-menu.

2. Next, type the following command into the command prompt and hit enter. CheckNetIsolation.exe LoopbackExempt -a -p=S-1-15-2-1958404141-86561845-1752920682-3514627264-368642714-62675701-733520436 You can close the command prompt after executing the command.

3. Next, open the unzipped server folder and double click or right-click and open the "bedrock_server.exe" file.

4. Windows will launch its firewall immediately after you open the server folder. Make sure that both the private and public networks options are selected. Next, click the "allow access" button.

5. Once the Firewall accepts an exception, the server starts running in the command line prompt.

Open System Port

Now that your OS is ready to invite Minecraft players, it's time for you to set up the router. Yes, we will be going a little more into the technical stuff than in the earlier part. These easy-to-follow steps will help you get your Minecraft Bedrock server running. Find Server IP Address and IPv6 Addresses

Before anything else, we need to figure out the details about the platform that is hosting the Minecraft Bedrock server. To do this, open Command Prompt again and enter the following command:

ipconfig /all

It will display your IPv4 or IPv6 address at the prompt. You can either close the window or save both addresses for later reference. Some routers require the default gateway address instead of IPv6 so you can note that down too. System Port Settings

A system port is the entry point through which players on other networks can communicate with and join your online server. We need to change your router's system port settings to open it for other players.

Each router manufacturer has its own UI and settings dashboard. Since we can't cover them all, you have to head to SetupRouter.com and find the way to open your Port Forwarding settings. Enter Server Details

Finally, once you have reached the system ports settings of your router, look for and click "add service"/"create new" or a similar button. Then, the router will require you to enter the following information:

- Server/Service/Port Name : Minecraft Server – Start Port: 19132, End Port: 19132

- Service Type: UDP/TCP

Minecraft Bedrock's default IP ID is "19132". If there are other columns named "port", enter the same ID. Moreover, the router might also require you to enter an IP Address, IPv6 Address, or default gateway address. Your IP address will be the same as the IPv4 addresses you have previously entered via the command prompt. Invite friends: Find your Public IP Address

You will only need the host's IP address to join any dedicated Minecraft Bedrock servers. Port forwarding makes it so that the public IP address doesn't reveal any personal information. You can search Google for "what my IP" to get the exact same information.

Your public IP address will appear in search results. Copy it and share it with friends who want to join the server. As you will see, you will also need it to join your Minecraft Bedrock Server. How to Join Minecraft Bedrock Server

It's now time to test your server. These steps will work for you and any friends that wish to join your server. Let's get started by opening Minecraft Bedrock. 1. From the homepage, click on the "Play" button.

2. Then click on the servers section from the top column to load all the active servers.

3. Scroll down to find the servers section and click on "Add server" at the bottom.

4. To join the server, you'll need to enter details. You can name the server anything you like. It is 19132, unless you have changed it in server property. The server address is identical to your public IP.

Your Minecraft Bedrock server can be customized

Now that your server has been set up, it's time you customize it. A server automatically loads a vanilla survival environment, which is great for playing Minecraft seeds. But it's not enough to make your server popular. Let's take a look at our customization options. Server Properties

The simplest way to customize a web server is to change its world properties. To do this, you can open the file "server.properties" in notepad. It is located in the unzipped directory from which you can run the world.

Within properties, you can edit the following features of your world: Game mode (Survival, Creative, or Adventure) & related settings

Cheats and difficulty

Maximum number of players and conditions for joining

Server settings

World properties

Abilities of players

Resource Packs and Worlds

One of the easiest ways to make a server unique is by changing how it looks. To do this, download and install one of our best texture or resource pack by placing it into the "resource package" folder.

You can also create custom Minecraft maps by placing them within the "worlds” folder. Then you will have pre-built Minecraft worlds that your friends can explore. Server Commands

In Minecraft, commands work like cheats in other games. They give you almost developer-like control to change everything in your world, without having to leave the game. These commands can be used to modify server properties. For the best use of this feature, we have a dedicated guide to Minecraft Bedrock commands. Close Your Minecraft Bedrock Server

You and your friends can quit playing the game by closing it. However, this doesn't automatically save your progress. Instead, you have to open the command prompt window in which your server is running. Next, type "stop" into the command prompt and hit enter.

The server will automatically close and save any progress or changes made to its world. You must do this every time you want to close the server and save your progress. Frequently Asked questions (FAQ).

Q. Q. Is a dedicated Minecraft Bedrock server free? A dedicated Minecraft Bedrock server is free unless you use premium Minecraft hosting services. Q. Does Minecraft Bedrock Server Support Cross-Play? As long as they are on the same game version, any of your friends can join your Minecraft server from any platform that runs Bedrock. But Java players can not join the Bedrock servers.

Q. Q.Can I run a server using Xbox Game Pass? A dedicated version works with Xbox Game Pass just like regular Minecraft. It also works on Minecraft Betas or Minecraft Preview, provided that the players are using the same version. Q. Is There an Easier Way to Make Minecraft Bedrock Server? Dedicated servers are usually the most reliable way to run Minecraft servers for free. But you can check our guide to make free online Minecraft servers for an even easier server method than dedicated servers. Host a Minecraft Bedrock Server for Free

Now you can jump into the ever-growing Minecraft community by creating a Bedrock server of your own. In a dedicated server, whether you want to explore ancient cities or just hang out with your friends is totally up to you. One of the most common ways my circle uses such servers is by building Minecraft houses. This is a great way to stimulate your mind and bond with your friends over the best coop games. Make sure your group is dressed up for the role. It is not fun to have a server that has a lot of default protagonists. Try some of the best Minecraft skins, and share them with your friends. With that said, if you face any problems while hosting or running your server, please feel free to drop your queries in the comments below.
