In Super Meat Boy, Steve?

Prepare for an adventure of limitless possibilities as you build, mine, battle mobs, and explore the ever-changing Minecraft landscape.

Minecraft is a 3D sandbox video game that Markus "Notch” Persson originally created. It is maintained and updated by Mojang Studios, which is part Xbox Game Studios, which is in turn part of Microsoft.

From its creation, Minecraft was developed almost exclusively by Notch until Jens "Jeb" Bergensten started working with him and has since become head of its development. It features music from Daniel "C418", Kumi Tamioka, and Lena Raine, as well as paintings and illustrations by Kristoffer Zetterstrand. Initially released as what is now known as Minecraft Classic on May 17, 2009, the game was fully released on November 18, 2011. Minecraft has been released on both mobile devices as well as consoles since its release. On November 6, 2014, Minecraft and all of Mojang Studios' assets were acquired by Microsoft for US$2.5 billion. [6][7] Notch has since left Mojang and is no longer working on Minecraft.

Minecraft focuses on allowing the player to explore, interact with and modify a dynamically-generated map made of one-cubic-meter-sized blocks. In addition to blocks, the environment features plants, mobs and items. Some activities in the game include building, mining for ore, fighting hostile mobs and crafting new blocks and tools by gathering various resources found in the game. Open-ended game design allows players to create structures, creations, and artwork on multiple competitive multiplayer servers or single-player maps. Redstone circuits are used for remote actions and logic computations, minecarts, tracks, and a mysterious underground world called the Nether. It is possible to travel to the End to defeat the Ender Dragon, but this goal is not mandatory.

A Minecraft world that has been completely redesigned.

Steve is one of two default characters that are used as players.

The user's player is the person who controls the world. When the user starts a game, the player is put in a world, generated by a random or specified seed, with an empty inventory. If the bonus chest option was enabled, a chest with basic items is generated near the user. The player's health bar is 10 hearts. It can be damaged by falling, suffocation and drowning, fire and lava, lightning, cacti sweet berry bush bushes, magma block, falling into the Void and hitting another entity with thorns armor splash potions, fallen anvils, and being hit by other players and mobs. You can reduce damage to your health by using armor or resistance potion. Food and specific potions can also be used to restore your health. If the difficulty is set to Peaceful, health regenerates on its own. Hunger is also a factor. If the difficulty setting is not Peaceful, it will deplete over time and become even more severe while sprinting, jumping, or swimming. The hunger level can be replenished by food, but eating rotten flesh or raw chicken may cause a hunger effect. Depending on the difficulty level, starvation can cause player to lose their health or even lead to death.

A player can change their skin in Minecraft.net's profile page or in the Minecraft Launcher Java Edition.

A building that was inspired by a Greek acropolis.

Minecraft's world is made up of a three-dimensional grid of cubes. Each cube is occupied with a specific type of block. There are many types of blocks, including natural blocks like grass, stone and minerals that randomly generate within the world. There are also blocks that players can craft, such as a crafting table and a furnace. You can extract resources from blocks either by hand or with tools. Some of these resources can be placed in another place, while others can also be used to make other blocks or tools. Others yield no practical use whatsoever. Some blocks cannot be broken by normal survival means, e.g. Bedrock, end portal frames and command blocks, nether portals and barriers, air, and barriers are some of the things that cannot be broken.

Mining

You can mine many ores near lava with a pickaxe.

Mining is one aspect of Minecraft. It's used to extract ore from the ground. These ores include iron and copper, as well as gold, iron redstone, diamonds, lapis lazuli and copper. Mining can be done either from the surface, or down through a mine shaft. Because of their rich ores, mineshafts are also called ravines.

Crafting and smelting

A crafting table is used for most of the Minecraft items and blocks.

Crafting allows players to create tools and blocks from items in their inventory. Subsequent versions often contain crafting recipes for new blocks and items. A player can use either the 2x2 grid from the inventory or the 3x3 grid that is provided by a craft table to craft. Smelting requires a furnace in addition to fuel and processes blocks into a more useful form such as from raw iron into iron ingots, which can then be crafted into iron tools and iron armor.

Brewing and enchanting

An Enchantment Table that contains glyphs is being absorbed into.

A brewing stand is used to brew potions using various ingredients and water. They can be stored in a bottle and then consumed by the players. Enchanting is also used to upgrade armor, tools or weapons with an enchanting table or anvil. You can unlock more powerful enchantments by gaining more experience and placing bookshelves near the enchanting tablet.

A creeper in a forest. Creepers stalk the player and then explode once they get near.

Mobs (shorthand for "mobiles") refer to the animals and other creatures that live on the map. Passive mobs are more aggressive than hostile mobs and attack the player when provoked. When provoked, neutral mobs attack the player (not all neutral mobs are attacked in the same way).

The Overworld has many passive mobs that can be killed for food and bred with each other.

Pigs: drop raw porkchops upon death and can be ridden using a saddle and holding a carrot on a stick. Cows can be milked with a bucket and can drop raw beef upon their death. Sheep may be killed by raw mutton or 1 wool and can be sheared for 1-3 more wools. Chickens can lay eggs by letting go of raw chicken feathers and raw chicken after their deaths. Horses: Drop leather upon death and can be ridden with a saddle. Horses travel faster than pigs. Rabbits are able to drop rabbit meat, hide, and the foot. This can be used to make a brewing ingredient. Bats: Fly around caves with ambient mobs. Fish: passive ambient mobs that drop diverse items such as food or bones. Mobs that drop food drop the raw version of their food unless killed while on fire.

Common hostile mobs found across the Overworld are:

Zombies are able to inflict melee damage. Skeletons can use infinitely many arrows as well as a bow. Spiders: leap large distances and climb walls. Witches should use potions. Creepers will explode if they are within a few feet of the player. Endermen: These are tall, black creatures that have purple eyes and turn aggressive when a player looks at them.

There are also rarer mobs in The Overworld that spawn only occasionally, in particular biomes, locations, or at specific times.

Spider jockeys - A skeleton riding on a spider.

Chicken jockeys is a baby zombie riding a bird. Slimes: These creatures spawn deep within a map or in swamplands. Villagers: inhabit villages and can trade with the player. Cats can be tamed, and they can live in villages and swamp huts. Parrots: can imitate the sounds of nearby mobs. Wolves are able to be controlled by the players and attack enemy mobs, if the player engages in an attack by them. Llamas: can store items and form caravans. Mooshrooms: mushroom-covered cows that spawn in mushroom fields biomes. Vindicators: spawn in woodland mansions. Pillagers can spawn in pillager outposts. Evokers: spawn at Woodland Mansions. Phantoms: spawn when the player hasn't slept for three in-game days. Pandas can spawn in jungles, though they are more common within bamboo jungles.
Some are found exclusively in the Nether, including:

Ghasts: Flying ghosts that shoot fireballs at the player. Zombified Piglins: can wield gold swords and attack in hordes when provoked. Piglins: can barter to provide ingredients or blocks. Wither skeletons, tall skeletons with stone swords and dropping coal. Sometimes wither skeleton skulls can also be used to summon an additional boss, the wither. Blazes: shoot fireballs at players and hover above the ground. Magma cubes are similar to Overworld slimes but are more fire-resistant and do more damage. Striders: These are the only passive mobs that naturally spawn in the Nether. They can walk on lava or be ridden by a warped mushroom on a stick.

The End contains the Ender Dragon, which is the main boss mob in Minecraft and allows the player to exit back to the Overworld when it dies.

Withers are the second boss mob in Minecraft and are created by the player by placing wither skeleton skulls on top of soul sand or soul soil in a specific pattern. They can shoot wither skulls at nearby undead mobs while also causing the Wither Effect in any mob they hit.

The Nether

The Nether.

The Nether is a dimension in Minecraft accessible from the Overworld by a nether portal. It includes five distinct biomes, including the nether trashes, basalt deltas and the crimson-warped forests, as well as the soul sand Valleys and the basalt Deltas. Each biome has unique generation and terrain. It is home to zombified hoglins and blazes. The nether also contains nether quartz, nether silver and ancient debris. The Nether also contains large oceans of volcanic lava, which have been walked on by striders.

The End

The End.

The End is another dimension of the game where the player battles the ender dragon. The End is accessed by entering an end portal found in a stronghold. End stone is the main ingredient of the End and it is inhabited by endermen. It also contains tall obsidian pillars on top of which are end crystals that heal the ender dragon. Once the ender Dragon is defeated, an exit portal will be created in the middle of the map. A portal near the edge of map will transport the player to expansive outer islands that are home to chorus fruit forests and end cities full of chest loot, shulkers, and other treasures. The end portal can only be accessed if you throw an Ender Pearl. The end has no ores.

Multiplayer (Java)

PvP (player against player) on a multiplayer server.

Minecraft multiplayer servers have developed to include their own rules and customs, guided by their administrators and moderators. The term griefer, meaning a player who causes grief, is a typical term on the internet but has taken up its definition on Minecraft servers: a person who destroys or defiles other users' creations on servers.

Griefers are the reason many server administrators make rules, but this has been taken a step further with modifications to the Minecraft server and even plugin-based replacement servers such as Bukkit. Because of these plugin-based servers, new user-created features have shown up in Minecraft. This includes money, vehicles and protection as well as RPG elements. These features normally do not require modification to a user's client and can be accessed by using chat commands. To bring up the chat screen, press T.

Spleef, which is a play-on-the-word "grief", is a very popular multiplayer game. In this game, the player aims at making another player fall through a floor by destroying blocks below their feet. This is typically played in a designated area and is usually run automatically using server plugins.

Many popular multiplayer servers exist that may contain, PvP arenas, custom minigames or large Survival or Creative worlds.

Multiplayer (Bedrock)

Multiplayer in Bedrock Edition is different to multiplayer on Java Edition because it is focused around a friend system. A player can add friends through the Friends tab in the menu or in the pause screen of a world. A player may invite friends to a world instead of having to pay for a server or realm. Minecraft has featured servers on Bedrock, which means that they are available when opening the game. There are seven featured servers available: The Hive (CubeCraft), Mineplex, Mineplex Lifeboat, Mineville Galaxite and Pixel Paradise.

Minecraft Realms

Minecraft Realms is an official subscription-based server hosting service that allows players to create and manage their own private Minecraft multiplayer worlds. Realms, hosted by Mojang Studios allows for a fast and easy way to create servers. The owner can also manage them from within Minecraft without needing to be familiar with the concepts of hosting on the Internet. Realms aren't meant for large public servers. They can be used for small groups or as a family server. Private Realms servers, which are free and easy to set up, are available 24/7 provided that the owner pays.

Notch with Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

The Bedrock Edition (also known as the Bedrock Platform, Bedrock Codebase or Bedrock Engine) refers to the multi-platform family of editions of Minecraft developed by Mojang Studios and Xbox Game Studios. Prior to this term, as the engine originated with Minecraft: Pocket Edition, this entire product family has been referred to using as "Pocket Edition", "MCPE" or "Pocket/Windows 10 Edition".

Minecraft, with no subtitle, is the title of all Bedrock editions of Minecraft. Before the Better Together Update it had different subtitles for different platforms, including Pocket Edition (for all platforms), Console Edition and Windows 10 Edition, Gear VR Edition and Fire TV Edition.

Minecraft: Pi Edition was a port of Pocket Edition 0.5.0 for Raspberry Pi [17]. It was intended to be an educational tool for new programmers. It allowed users to manipulate the game code and supported multiple programming languages; however, it was discontinued in January 2016. Minecraft: China Edition is a China version of Minecraft only in China.

Comparison of Editions

Game customization

Add-ons

Add-ons[Bedrock Edition only] are the first step toward bringing customization to all editions of Minecraft and are officially supported by Mojang Studios/Minecraft. They currently allow players to transform the look of their worlds, change the behavior of mobs, and add entities, items and blocks, structures, functions and biomes.

Behavior packs

Behavior packs [Bedrock Edition only] modify vanilla mobs' and fogs' behavior. They are still under development and will soon be able modify the behavior of items and blocks [citation needed].

The game supports the modification of most textures, sounds, and text through resource packs. Resource packs must contain a certain structure of files and folders placed in the .minecraft/resourcepacks folder. Access to the options menu will allow you to see the location of installed resource packs as well as the folder where they were placed. The number and size of the files within the resource pack determines how often the resources are altered.

Data packs

Data packs [Java Edition only] allow players to further customize vanilla realms in a similar manner to resource packs. Unlike resource packs, which modify the game's resources, data packs can be used to override or add new advancements, functions, loot tables, structures, recipes and tags without any code modification.

Skins

Skin is the texture applied to a player's model or mob. The skin is divided into sections that define the character's skin surface (for example, the left leg, front head, etc.). A skin can only have solid colors. Transparency is not allowed except on the second layers, which are transparent by default. However, playing offline, you can leave pixels unaltered, which could result in "holes" in your skin. The second layer is used to give the character glasses, caps, or other accessories. The arm size can be changed to make it normal or slim. The slim variant measures only 3 pixels wide and the normal variant 4 pixels.

Java Edition

in Java Edition, there are no special features in the skins. This version only has the features described in the first section.

Bedrock Edition

in Bedrock Edition, there are many more types of skin customization. Players can add 3D custom hair, eyes, mouths, arms, legs and more. You can also change the character's size. Players can also get many different accessories for the skin. This can only be done with an in-game skin. The accessories and skins that players can purchase are also available. A skin that is smaller than usual or larger will not affect the hitbox size. However it can still be an advantage in multiplayer servers, as it may be harder to see. Some skins do not show armor or hand-held objects.

Capes

Capes can be attached to a player's back as a vanity item. Players start in Bedrock Edition with a cape, which is not equipped by default. Some skins come with caps.

When the player is running, capes will also flail. The texture of the elytra changes to an outfitted cape when the player equips it.

Unofficial mods

Modifying Minecraft can be done by adding Java class file to minecraft.jar Java Edition. Mojang will not allow you to make custom modifications. This can cause the game's inability to run if the mod becomes obsolete, defective, or is in conflict with other mods. Some such modifications impressed Notch or Jeb sufficiently that they were added to the game and the authors were credited under Additional Programming. Some examples of mods being implemented into the main game include Hippoplatimus' Piston Mod and horses from Dr. Zhark's Mo' Creatures mod were added in Beta 1.7 and 1.6.1 respectively.

Third-party software

There are many programs that can be used to create Minecraft. These include 3D viewers and map editors, game modifiers, game viewers, and informational programs such as crafting recipes and server wrappers. Mojang does not support these, just like mods.

Reception

Metacritic named Minecraft one of the most popular video games in 2010.[18] Video Game Canon also ranked Minecraft one of the top games of all-time. [19]

Awards

Mojang Studios' trophies.

Since its release, Minecraft has won many awards, including:

PC Gamer's "Game of the Year"[20] - Independent Games Festival's Grand Prize and "Audience Award"[21] Good Game's "Best Downloadable Game of 2010"[22] Rock Paper Shotgun's "Game of the Year"[23] Indie DB's "Indie of the Year", "Most Innovative and Best Singleplayer Indie"[24] - Game Developers Choice Awards's "Best Debut Game", "Best Downloadable Game" and "Most Innovative Game Award"[25] References in popular culture

In response to Minecraft's popularity, many references have been made in culture. This includes memes and references in these TV shows and movies.

- In Super Meat Boy, Steve? [26] is an unlockable figure. He is known as Mr. Minecraft in this game. Battlefield Heroes: Players could purchase a Royal Minecraft T-Shirt (or a National Minecraft T-Shirt) from the 29th through the 31st. July 2011. [27] - In Team Fortress 2, there is a hat called Top Notch that resembles Notch's avatar in a cubic form. This hat is owned by Notch, the only one who has it. - The Elder Scrolls V is Skyrim and The Binding of Isaac both have an item called the "Notched Pickaxe" that can be found and used. This is in reference to Notch, the creator of the game, and the pickaxes prominently featured in Minecraft. [29][30] The Binding of Isaac afterbirth contains another item called the "Mine Crafter", which uses TNT.

- In the prologue, Breaking the Bank, if the player chooses the "shovel" option, Henry tries to get inside the bank by digging under the walls, but hits and ignites a gas main; the failure message is "Never dig straight down. This is a well-known Minecraft tip. Chapter 2: Stealing the Diamond. If the player selects the option to "sneak in" and then the "pickaxe", Henry starts to mine the museum the diamond is located. However, a creeper comes up behind him and explodes. Henry survives, but the explosion gave him the entrance he required. Chapter 5, Completing the Mission contains multiple references to Minecraft. - If the player launches with "Government Supported Privat Investigator" or "Convict Allies" endings, then the player can choose the "jetpack", in which Henry starts building a bridge of dirt blocks using the Toppat rocket. Henry, however, runs out of dirt blocks, falls off the edge and drops a stick, steak, and leather boots. The fail message says "You died!" Similar to the Minecraft deathscreen, ". - If the player launches with "Pure Blooded Thief", and "Presumed Dead", and then selects to do nothing, then selects to do nothing, then selects to do nothing, then chooses to do nothing, then selects to do nothing, then selects to do nothing, then the "Spiked Wheels (Left)" and "Hammer [Left]" options, Henry will attempt to "mine" for glass in a similar fashion to Minecraft, but he is killed. Henry's rocket crashes to the ground when the player selects Hammer (Right). This failure message, which reads "Return to Sender", may be related to the Minecraft achievement. - The player can launch with the "Government Supported Private Investigative" and the "Ghost Inmate", and then choose the "Magic Hat and "Free Transform" options. A diamond block can be found near the painting, while a helmet can be found somewhere.

TV shows and movies

Season 17 of South Park featured the 2nd episode, which featured a child teaching Minecraft to adults. [43] The Minecraft zombie sound can been heard at 0:30 in the trailer for The Walking Dead. [44] – Season 25 of The Simpsons featured a couch gag called SimCraft. It featured Bartender Moe as a creeper who blows up the house. [45] - In Season 3 Episode 10 of Rick and Morty, the title characters mention or are seen playing Minecraft throughout parts of the episode. [46] – Season 4 Episode 3 - Rick opens a laptop and says "Ok, now I'm going more Minecraft".
