How To Create A FREE Minecraft Bedrock Server

This server is completely gratuitous and powerful enough to run a Bedrock Server. A similar amount of RAM costs $5 per month.

You won't be charged unless you elect to

Next, we will create a virtual Machine to run the Server

Please fill in the following fields

Now, scroll down to the 'Image and shape' section. Make sure that "Canonical Ubuntu 20.04" is selected, then check that the shape is set to AMD VM.Standard.E2.1.Micro

Note: The pre-set shape may not work with Ubuntu. To change the Image, simply switch the shape to one that does.

Next, we'll need to choose a virtual cloud network (VCN). If you have an existing VCN that has a public subnet, select it. If not, select 'Create a new virtual cloud network'. Next, choose Create A Public Subnet' and accept default names. Make sure you select 'Assign an IPv4 address public'. Otherwise, you won't be able to connect to this server via the internet. ).

Now we need an "SSH” key pair to associate with this VM. If you're familiar in this concept and have a publickey that you want to use, select 'Upload key files' and upload the public key. These keys can be thought of as unique identifiers that will allow you to securely log into your server. Click 'Generate SSH key pair' and save your private and public keys to your local machine. We'll use these in just a bit to log in to the VM.

You will need your Private Key to log in later so don’t lose it.

Leave the default boot volume and click Create'.

Click 'Create' to be redirected the VM details pages. Your VM instance is now in a PROVISIONING condition.

After 30-60 seconds, the state switches to RUNNING. Find your public IP address, and copy it.

Next, we will open ports so players can access the server.

Next, click on add Ingress Rules

In order to start installing the Minecraft software on our VM, we need to remotely connect to it. If you are unfamiliar with SSH, I recommend you read this article.

Powershell can be used as your connecting program if you are on Windows (most likely). Open Powershell. Type this: ssh --i (file path of your private key). ubuntu@[VM ip]

BEFORE: This is where you should research how to secure your private key file.

This is what it looks like when you succeed in logging into your vm

Next, you will need to install multiple programs in order to get started.

These commands can be run:

sudo apat-get install firewalld

These commands will install firewall access, and screen to keep your server running after you start it.

Next, you will need to enter powershell during the ssh session.

sudo firewall cmd --permanent -zone=public --addport=19132/tcp

sudo firewall cmd --permanent -zone=public --addport=19132/udp

sudo firewall cmd --reload

Then:

sudo su - Minecraft

mkdir Bedrock

wget https://minecraft.azureedge.net/bin-linux/bedrock-server-1.17.2.01.zip -O server.zip

unzip server.zip

rmserver.zip

If necessary visit https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/bedrock and check the latest download link and substitute it.

Then run these commands:

chmod +x ./bedrock_server

This is the last command that will start your server.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server

You can connect to your server now using the VM's IP and the standard Port, the name is irrelevant.

However, if you close your terminal, your server will stop. To stop your server, type "stop" or close your window, and then log in again (note: you'll need these commands again sudo su- Minecraft).

cd Bedrock

Enter.

then run this command again: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./bedrock_server

You should now have a functioning bedrock server, with 1 gb ram, and 1 xenon core, good for atleast 20 players. You can do this for a Java server by following this link.
