Choosing A Wind Chime
The company of people from throughout the world, from diverse cultures, and quite a few backgrounds chose to make this trip. Most pilgrims had started alone, and walked with people they conformed. A camaraderie developed that does not normally happen on holiday, or even when life.

The village today is often a lovely bunch of whitewashed cottages, shops and hotels. The Ell House is worth a visit and is located at the junction of cathedral Saint. The main street of the town, Bridge street, runs through town and church bell is lined with many shops and other restored facilities. Eventually it intersects High Street and so now you know the cathedral and The Cross.

I knocked on the entranceway and eventually a very scared female voice cleared. I explained that Experienced this mishap, and asked them to buy a towel place around people. After long deliberations their room with another female, the lady told me that would certainly throw a towel down for me if I went along the stairs.

Holme Cultram Abbey was founded for Cistercian monks in 1150, and, like Cartmel, retains the abbey church as being the parish ceremony. Sadly, this massive sandstone church suffered a great fire in 2006. May still under restoration, but the disaster provides the opportunity for the West Cumbria Archaeological Society to excavate the grounds to identify the original cloisters various other features. Archaeological work continues this summer, thanks the grant around the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Roncesvalles is not a town but a medieval abbey, plus a resting area for pilgrims. The hostel accommodates 120 individuals bunk beds, the largest single room communal hostel on the path. I wondered if I would sleep, but as was the case on most nights sleep came quickly. There was the occasional night where I was kept awake by a snorer, though thankfully not often, however i quickly learnt that a loud cough will usually stop them for a little bit.

St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was once shipwrecked on Duddon Sands on the Cumbrian coast. From here, he made his way via county, converting the people as he went. He baptised at St. Patrick's Well, Patterdale, and each village and native church were named after him. The present St. Patrick's church, Patterdale is nineteenth century, and was manufactured by Anthony Salvin. There a good interesting altar here, focused entirely on people who have lost their lives in air crashes on the fells.

Walking into Santiago was fulfilling but disappointing. Like life your way was staying remembered, not the anticlimactic finish. Santiago's narrow streets teemed with tourists, too many people for pilgrims who had become accustomed towards the quiet countryside and great hospitality of small Spanish towns.
