2. There has been multiple cases of cats disappearing at Pasir Ris Park. The latest death was a cat named Cloud 9 on June 14. Eight other cats have also died the same way as Cloud 9; one cat has survived but is suffering from severe liver damage. After investigation by the authorities, it was found that the cats might have eaten poisoned fish crumbs placed near the entrance of many areas, such as PA Water Venture. Many birds have also been found dead around and in the feeding area.
3. Since then, the authorities have taken measures to try to stop this. The Cat Welfare Society (CWS) is hoping to raise awareness about this issue within the park and on social media, such as putting up posters appealing for information on the cats’ deaths during the week. CWS also plans to educate the public on the penalties of animal cruelty and encourage the public to stay vigilant and look out for suspicious behaviour around the park.
4. You can keep your cats safe in multiple ways. One of the ways I think might be more effective is to avoid the places with the fish crumbs and instead try to walk your cat using another route. When your cat does not see the "food", he will not go to eat it. Another method when you are at home with your cats is to lock doors and windows to prevent your pet from escaping. Should they escape and run free they will be in great danger. Do try your best to keep your felines safe!
