In the Modern Era of Minecraft
In the modern era of Minecraft, Hypixel is the undisputed king of the multiplayer scene, boasting hundreds of thousands of concurrent players at peak times. Although Minecraft is over 10 years old now, no other Minecraft Server has ever come close to touching this incredible metric.

It’s no mystery why Hypixel is so popular, having pioneered and innovated some of the most popular multiplayer game modes such as “Bedwars”, which draws in tens of thousands of players alone. You can always trust Hypixel to provide hours of free entertainment, with constant updates, new content, and brilliant community interaction. Many servers can and have tried to copy Hypixel, but you can never truly beat the original and best.

#2. Mineplex:

Mineplex was once the largest Minecraft server of all time, dominating the multiplayer scene for several years in a row. Although no longer in it’s prime years, Mineplex still offers players with a great variety of minigames, and remains filled at all times of the day with thousands of players.

Mineplex supports both Java Edition and Bedrock edition, meaning that you can enjoy this server no matter what version you are using. If you are using the Bedrock edition of Minecraft and want to play Mineplex, make sure you use the IP: mco.mineplex.com. If you are using the Java Edition, be sure to use the IP: mineplex.com.

The prison gamemode for Minecraft has remained as one of the most popular multiplayer gamemodes among fans throughout the years, with millions of Minecrafters having enjoyed a prison server at one point or another.

Currently, Purple Prison is the best server for Minecraft prison, with thousands of players every day. The server features intense PvP, great mining, parkour events, a well-balanced economy, and a discord community of over 40,000 members for you to make new friends in.

#4. Middle Earth:

IP: build.mcmiddleearth.com

Although this server isn’t finished yet, it is worth exploring. The expansive map is based on the cinematic version of Middle-earth created by Peter Jackson. You can explore the beautifully constructed map or play in a PvP arena or can also help finish building the world as long as you follow the rules.

There is also a thriving online community that has come together to work on the massive project. The rules for this server are simple but are very strictly enforced. It also has a built-in tour guide that will give the players plenty of Lord of the Rings lore as they explore the world.

#5. Grand Theft Auto:

This server integrates the infamous GTA experience into Minecraft. With houses to own, weapons to shoot and policemen to evade, you can have a fantastic recreation of the GTA experience in the server, making it one of the best Minecraft servers out there.

#6. CubeCraft Games:

If you’re a long time Minecraft player, you’ll probably recognize the name CubeCraft. From Eggwars to Build battle, CubeCraft Games has innovated some of the most popular Minecraft multiplayer gamemodes over it’s impressive 9 year lifespan.

Remaining active still in 2020 and 2021, you can enjoy 22 unique minigames on CubeCraft, with new games constantly being updated and released. Cubecraft shows no signs of slowing down any time soon and is a solid choice to invest time into.

Fans of RuneScape can now improve their Minecraft skills to 99 on this thoroughly designed Minecraft RPG server, which is designed to look and feel like one of the best free MMOs. During two years of immense work, Minescape has drawn influence from both ORS and RS 3, thereby delivering a faithful recreation of all the environments, mobs and skills in RuneScape.

#8. The Mining Dead:

PvP and PvE combine in this server-wide recreation of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Fight, craft, and survive in the enormous map, fighting off walkers and other players alike. The Mining Dead is a great opportunity to take in all the famous sights as you’re scrambling to find weapons, ammo, and generally anything to help fend off the undead. Similar to most of the servers before, this too derives inspiration from a popular comic the Walking Dead. The Mining Dead also features key locations from the TV series like The Prison, Woodbury, and Alexandria.

If you’re a fan of Minecraft PvP, or simply a noob looking to get some more experience to perform better in your favourite minigames that involve PvP, Lunar Network is the place for you.

Lunar Network is currently the most popular Minecraft PvP practice server, with hundreds of other players online at all times of the day. What makes the server so great is the fact it comes with it’s own custom client, which players can install to maximize their frames, count their CPS (clicks per second) and improve their general PvP experience.

#10. 2B2T:

IP: 2b2t.org

2b2t is, without a doubt, the current king of Minecraft anarchy servers. Thanks to the massive YouTuber attention in recent times, the server has recently been pulling in player counts of over 1,000 people, leading to huge queue times of several hours just to even join.

The server has a very long and controversial history spanning over 10 years now and has undeniably seen some rough times. In recent times, however, the server is at the strongest point it’s ever been in terms of popularity and community spirit.
