Caves & Cliffs: Part II is currently being developed by Mojang as the next major Minecraft upgrade . Another Blog You can test the new world generation build.
It's a huge change in the way the world is built in Minecraft, so Mojang decided to approach things a bit differently this time. Unlike normal testing, this is not an actual Snapshot you download through the launcher. Instead, if you go to their explainer blog post it gives you some instructions and a download link.
Although it's all subject change, here's what's different:
- New world heights and depths - New mountain biomes (lofty peak and snowcapped peaks as well as grove, meadow and snowy slopes). New cave generation (cheese and spaghetti caves) and local water levels. The new cave biomes are created naturally underground and inside mountains (lush Caves or dripstone caves). Natural variation of terrain shape and elevation, separate from biomes. For instance forests and deserts can form up on a hill without needing a special biome just for that.
