Technoblade, a YouTube character who gained millions of followers through his humorous commentary on videos of him playing Minecraft has passed away, his father announced via a video posted to his son's YouTube account.

More than 11 million subscribers made it a habit of watching screen recordings of Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay while he offered commentary off camera. While he usually focused on what was happening in the game, in certain videos he described life events as mundane as going to the D.M.V. Or as devastating as a cancer diagnosis.

A video called "so long nerds" that was uploaded to Technoblade's YouTube channel on Thursday and has been watched more than 26 million times as of Friday afternoon, departed from the channel's usual aesthetic of colorful, pixelated bricks. Instead, Technoblade's father is shown sitting in a chair with an adorable white dog and a stark white background.

His father, who doesn't reveal his name is reading an email from his son. It begins: "Hello, everyone. Technoblade is here. You can see me dead in this video if you're watching it.

The message continues to reveal Technoblade's birth name, Alex, which he did not use on the internet. A few pictures of Alex and his family are also included in the video. FREEZING A MOMENT Alex rarely appeared in YouTube videos and preferred to show himself in a crowned sword-wielding porcine.

"If I had another hundred years to live, I think I would prefer to be Technoblade repeatedly," Alex's letter says. "Those were the most enjoyable years of my entire life."

His father, who is emotional throughout the film, says he and his son talked for months about whether to make the final video. Instead, Alex decided to write the letter and died about eight hours after completing the work, his father claims.

"I do not think he did everything he wanted to say, but I believe he got the main points," he says.

The video ends with a written note that is attributed to Alex's mother who's name isn't mentioned. She said that her son avoided personal fame and was self-deprecating, even when his channel grew in popularity.

She wrote that Technoblade was always seeking ways to please and reward their customers. He offered prizes online and encouraged good sportsmanship and most importantly, shared his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and fun.

Alex's family was not able to be reached on Friday. Hypixel, a gaming company has stated that the family asked that no comments be made to them. Don Pireso, the company administrator, wrote in a tweet that "The video they posted contains all the information they are confident about sharing."

Alex first made public his diagnosis of cancer in a video uploaded to his channel in August. The video, which featured Alex's off camera comments and played the game. He maintained his self-deprecating and humorous style, refusing any attempt to be too serious. He also revealed his age at the time, 22.

In the video, he described how the first round of chemotherapy made him exhausted to the point that he couldn't even sit up to make a virtual appointment with a doctor. Then the comedian joked: "Sitting in a chair, am I Superman?"

He admitted to being diagnosed after experiencing serious discomfort in his arm. Although initially, he dismissed the pain as a repetitive stress injury from playing video games, he later admitted that his shoulder was swelling up after several days of rest.

He also urged people to obtain the Covid-19 vaccine. He claimed that his treatments for cancer have weakened his immune system, making him more vulnerable to serious illness caused by the coronavirus.

He added, "I'm going ahead and be a voice for all cancer patients when I say it is incredibly irritating when hospitals are overloaded by patients dying from preventable diseases." "I'm just saying that we should have priority for the beds in hospitals.

On social media, Technoblade's acquaintances and followers have praised him for his wit and for being a role model among Minecraft players.

Minecraft is unlike most games because its creator, Microsoft, does not control the servers on which players can meet online. Instead, players can create their own servers and join other players to create a vast network of worlds within the Minecraft universe.

Hypixel which manages a network of Minecraft servers, said it had designed a digital memorial book for users to write messages that would be printed and sent to Technoblade's family. Hypixel's tribute included the pig's avatar as a statue. "In many ways, the success of many of us is linked to Technoblade's success. Technoblade," the company said.
