Minecrafter Creates a Giant Halo ring that actually Spins

Home News Survival Minecraft Minecrafter creates a massive Halo ring that actually spins

You will need to modify it, but you can still download it and test it.

If there's a thing a world made of cubes shouldn't do, it's circle. However, some Minecraft players just love defying logic to create stunning round structures. One brave builder went further and broke every rule in order to create a rotating ring. Yes, a complete moving Halo ring that includes diverse biomes as well as a beam emitter and a crashed Pelican. The most appealing thing is that you can download the ring and explore it yourself.

Reach the heights of Reach, a Minecraft YouTuber, claims that his Halo ring was inspired by a design shared by another creator. Although this smaller ring world is impressive but the comments on the post suggested that it could be even more awesome If it actually worked. Reach decided to take on the task by using WorldEdit and the Create mod to build and engineer a ring that actually moves.

It was a major undertaking. He made use of the Clockwork Bearing blocks in the Create mod to manage the ring's movement. A single clockwork bearing that was attached to the ring's rim could not quite get the job done It was discovered. He explains that the entity generated by Minecraft was too big to render the first attempt to move it.

So Reach decided to divide it into four sections, each with an axis bearing that rotates and an arm. Reach ended up with eight bearings attached to the sections of the ring to form spokes. "I did think that it wouldn't work," he tells me, "but my stubbornness and determination to create something original for YouTube and my viewers was more than enough to get me through." After all that? Holy crap, the thing is moving.

Planet Minecraft has the project available for download if want to experience the wonder of a Ring-world. It will require Minecraft 1.16. Once inside the game, you'll manually turn on the bearings to get the thing running, but once you're on the ground it will continue to tick.

It doesn't move continuously, so you won't have to keep up with a constantly moving hamster wheel. The whole ring turns in increments of 30 seconds. This is great, because I was a bit confused and motion sick when I explored the ring in its current state. It'll take me longer to build my space legs. Gaming Reach also had to lock every block together to make the ring spin as it should, which means you won't be able to construct or mine here. It's more of a diorama than an actual playable world, however it's still very cool.

You can hear a bit more of the process that Reach used in the video on YouTube below, where he explains the challenges of engineering the ring, and the different decorative choices he made during the construction to give the entire thing an Halo feel.

God bless the Minecraft builders. They never quit.
