Teenager Arrested over Hoax to Bomb a Mass School

Following a massive bomb hoax that shut down hundreds of colleges and schools across the UK, a teenager believed to be at the heart of an Minecraft gamers feud was arrested.



Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year old after 24,000 threats to schools were sent warning of a bomb attack and soliciting cash.



The emails were spoofed to make it appear as if the emails were sent by a gaming network known as VeltPvP. VeltPvP is an online Minecraft player against-player server, is the same kind of service that businesses use to sell their products to gamers.

The emails were intended to cause the domain to be suspended because of abuse. They they are believed to be from an organisation that was trying to discredit VeltPvP.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) has stated that there was no real threat to the emails received this week.

In a statement, they said that they understood teachers' and parents' concerns but stress there was no real threat to the schools' emails.



'However we are taking the communications extremely seriously. As this is a live investigation, we are unable to provide further information.'



In the wake of the hoax email bombs there were signs posted outside Cardinal Road School in Feltham



People involved in the squabble said that their adversaries had engaged in illegal acts to hinder one another's businesses.



It's horrible, it's not the nicest thing', one of the hoaxers involved said when asked whether regrets the impact the letters had had on school pupils who were forced to leave.



The hoaxer blamed VeltPvP for a campaign of Direct Denial of Service attacks (DDoS) that claimed to be used to shut down other Minecraft servers.



Parents were urged to collect their children after the threat to bomb hoax in the email



VeltPvP released a statement saying that they were being hounded and hounded by cybercriminals.

More than 400 schools and colleges across the country received an email that claimed a bomb had been planted and would explode if cash wasn't handed over.

Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool, Bedfordshire and the the North East were among those conducting an investigation.



Parents have requested to be allowed to pick up their children from school due concerns over the emails.



Six schools in Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill, Valley School, Stevenage, The Sele School, Duncombe School, Stanborough School, Watford, St Albans High School, and Valley School.
