Minecraft has been updated with a tribute to the popular streamer Technoblade who passed away from cancer was announced by his family this week. The splash image for Minecraft in the game's launcher now features an ox sporting a golden crown, a reference to Technoblade's Minecraft character, a royal pig-man wearing an extravagant crown.
The Minecraft team tweeted on Friday that the team was "heartbroken over the loss of Technoblade," writing that he "brought so much joy" to the game's community.
We've been trying to find the words but we're all devastated by the loss of Technoblade. He was a huge part of our community and brought so many smiles. MINECRAFT SERVERS He will be missed dearly.
Technoblade was a renowned Minecraft streamer with more than 13 million users on YouTube. He was also part of the popular server Dream SMP. Technoblade's father posted an email from Technoblade and discussed the work involved in making the final video, as Technoblade was battling cancer. The video has been watched more than 54 million times as of the time of writing.
Technoblade has been the subject of numerous tributes from streamers and other members of the Minecraft creator community. In the time since the event, many fan art pieces have been uploaded to Twitter in commemoration, too.
Although the Minecraft team hasn't yet acknowledged the splash screen update, it is evident that it made this small change to pay tribute to. Although the original launcher image shows a pig in the same spot however, it doesn't have Technoblade's trademark crown.
