Mojang has launched its Minecraft Realms subscription service in North America, offering hosting and setup for multiplayer Minecraft worlds that start at just $13 per month.
Mojang states that Minecraft Realms is particularly valuable for parents. It makes it simple to create a child's own Sandbox and restrict it to invited users. The cost of the subscription also includes an automatic backup feature, allowing players to undo unwanted alterations and roll back their worlds to their previous saved state.
Minecraft Realms allows up to 10 players to join at the same time. The service can also host minigames and other game-related events on a regular basis. Subscribers who sign up for a 3- or six-month subscription package will receive discounts. The service is currently exclusive to the PC version of Minecraft however support for Minecraft: Pocket Edition is planned in a forthcoming update. [Image: Mojang]
