Mojang Reassures Minecraft Fans about Microsoft Deal

Mojang reassures Minecraft fans about Microsoft deal

The boss of Minecraft-maker Mojang has assured fans about what will happen when Microsoft assumes control.

A $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) deal that will see Microsoft acquire Mojang was announced in mid-September.

However, Vu Bui the chief operating officer of Mojang, said there was no plan to change the game or how people could do about it.

He added that feedback from players is vital to develop the game.

"Nothing's going to change," stated Mr Bui. Minecraft servers list We don't have plans for any change and obviously I'm not able discuss the details and I don't know everything but we're here, the game's still in play and business is as normal."

Mojang has always sought to preserve the original impetus that helped to make the game so popular, he said.

He said, "Maintaining the original culture is really hard." It's a culture that respects the community and lets them do what they like playing the game.

"It is our absolute intention, as it always has been, to keep doing that," he told the BBC in an interview at London's Olympia exhibition center, where the keynote speech at the Brand Licensing Europe trade show.

Although Mr. Bui acknowledged the deal was still being worked out, he said Mojang was planning to work closely with its huge community of players.

Many fans of block-building have expressed concerns about what will happen if Microsoft gets complete control.

Markus Persson (aka Notch), is the Minecraft inventor. He wrote about his reasons for approaching Microsoft. He stated that it was too difficult for him to handle and was becoming a burden.

He wrote, "I can't take responsibility for something like this," shortly after details of the deal were made public.

He said, "It's about my sanity. It's not about money." "It's about my mental health."

Mr Bui said there would undoubtedly be some changes in the future however, these will be done with the feedback, input and comments of fans.

The current system in which Minecraft developers collaborate long before they add it to the site will be kept.

He said, "We don't keep our secrets about our features."

Mojang began to display the new games they were developing even though he didn't know the specifics.

When they were ready said Mr. Bui, Mojang would let players try the first versions of a game, and then help the creators refine it and assist in making it a commercial property.

A similar approach was used with Minecraft and Mojang wanted to repeat the process since it was demonstrated to benefit developers when they worked on the development of a project.

It was not about trying to replicate the success of Minecraft to make another title that proved just as popular. Bui said that it was more about faith in the overall plan.

"We believe in this model," he said. "Regardless of your artistic style, people should focus on what they believe in regardless of whether it will be successful.

"That's a noble effort," he added.

Mojang also stated that he believed it was a mistake attempt to manage the Minecraft community or decide what can be done within the game.

Better, he added, was to just get out of the way.

"People are at their most creative sometimes when you let them do whatever they want," said Mr Bui. "You must give them guidelines but for the most part when you let people be creative, they will come up with more interesting ideas than we ever could ourselves."
